Life is Good with LG!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this unit yesterday as we had our record 8th consecutive day with over 90 degrees and very high humidity of around 85%. My son and I installed this unit in about an hour. Probably could be quicker but we took our time and also installed an additional support brace. The room the unit was installed in measures 15 x 15. This is an old craftsman type home built in 1900 so insulation is not the greatest and open floor plan makes the entire cooling space much larger than unit is rated for. The living room is about 20 x 40 and the kitchen with laundry room off of it is about 30 x 15. Add in a small mudroom of about 6 x 8 and that's a lot of sq footage. Temp in the house before turning unit on was 88.6 degrees. Within 3 hours of QUIET running, the temp had dropped to 77.5 in the installed room and about 3 degrees higher in all the other above mentioned rooms. By 11 pm the entire set of rooms was around 75. There is the added benefit of the unit removing about 3.5 pints of moisture per hour. We are completely happy with the performance, ease of install and ease of operation with this A/C. Having loaded the old monster units into windows back in the 80's & 90's this unit weighs in at a manageable 97lbs. I would purchase this unit again and certainly have no restrictions in recommending it to any of my family or friends. It absolutely performs as LG claims and in the case of sq footage rated to cool, Outperforms in every way!

Great AC performance but ...

I purposely bought this because of the Alexa integration but that has been a nightmare. The ThinQ alexa skill seems to be the culprit as the ThinQ app works fine independently but Alexa could just not find the device using the skill. It's a letdown when you want to have this on a routine with your other smart devices. Up to this point I have not resolved that issue and now on an temporary fix (Thinq complete). You'll have to say "Alexa Tell LG to do this etc etc" instead of just saying Alexa turn on AC or whatever name you have it on the app. As far as performance goes, it's very good but take into consideration the Alexa integration problems if that's what you are after.

Great unit, wifi function is awful

Just installed this yesterday. Installation manual is actually quite detailed and helpful. The unit looks really good installed - modern and clean. Haven't tested the cooling output yet but I'm confident it is up to the task.
One of the main reasons I decided to buy this unit was the Wifi capability. We have Wifi bulbs and smart speakers all over the house, but this is by far the worst Wifi functionality I've ever experienced. Connecting the unit is a chore. Once you get that out of the way, when you tap on the unit in the app, it says it is disconnected from the network. You can turn only turn the unit on and off from the app. I can already do this with the remote control. No settings changes or adjustments are available. Such a useless feature.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

1400 Btu Dual Inverter wifi

Right after warranty i keep everything in working order maintain filters, coils doesn't cool like other brands. And vents have started to freeze.
Never really cooled like the other window units in our house i have . Thus is a LG dual inverter Wifi 14000btu
Do not recommend it at all looks good doesn't cool at all like the others.

Not what I expected

Is it quite? NO. Not any weird sounds or anything, the unit it just so loud that in order to watch television, I have to set it on the lowest fan mode . Sounds like a loud wind tunnel. Is it quieter than my 15 year old unit? Absolutely! Library quiet? Only when in energy saving mode and the unit is either off or testing the room temp.
Energy saving mode does not work as advertised. It runs constantly even when not cooling on this mode unless I manually turn energy saving off and back on with the remote.
Workmanship is horrible. Almost every bolt was off. You are warned about the lower guides being easily broken but either the slots were machined too close together or I was sent the incorrect guides as they were too wide to aligned properly with the slots. I mean MUCH to wide.
The app has very limited functionality. You can set one schedule and that’s it. I have another smart unit that is actually quiet and I can set different schedules throughout the day. Set once and forget it.
Funnily enough, I bought the other unit as I was “settling “ for something other than the LG dual inverter that I thought I wanted.
Very disappointed!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
