I recently purchased a 28 inch weber grill. I’m disappointed that we cannot close the cover on The grill. when I cook a pork roast of ribs, they don’t seem to cook up as well with the cover open. I had the Blackstone in the past which you could close the cover, so I’m not sure if we can cover the food somehow so when I cook that particular type of foods or not.

We recommend using the Weber Basting Dome to provide a cover for food on the griddle. Griddling is a more hands-on method of cooking, which is why we designed it with an open top.

I’m still figuring out how to cook on a flat top. I’m watching a lot of YouTube videos and trying to stick to what I know. Breakfast is a snap with this thing. It heats evenly and I can turn it down enough that I don’t burn things while I’m learning. I’m not going to get rid of my Weber gas grill because it does some things this won’t but I’m really happy with it so far.

Great griddle. Even heat across the top. Little warping from right to left, but not bad. Shelves on side are kind of flimsy. Grease/scrap opening is easy and nice to use with disposal aluminum pans.

the only thing missing is front wheels, it is still easy to move without them but its almost like someone forgot to add them in.
Overall this is a fantastic flattop griddle, it is so versatile and fun to cook on. The 28" is good for a family of 3-4 people depending on how to try to cook at one time. smash burgers/ cheese steaks and stir fry is awesome and weekend breakfast for the family is alot of fun.
The front grease cleanout is a huge plus and clean up after is a breeze.

I have very mixed feelings about this grill. I love the griddle, the sear it gets on meats and the ability to grill vegetables, BUT, I have seasoned the surface over 3 times now, and the surface still rusts. I reported the issue, and was given instructions on how to reclean and reseal it, which I have done now 2 additional times, but it still rusts. Weber has been a company I enjoy doing business with because they stand by their product, but in this case, I do not know what it will take to get a new grilling surface.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
