Wave 2: subtle and effective

I must admit that I was worried when I saw the smaller ceramic heating/cooling pad. I thought that it wouldn't be as effective at helping to cool me down, which is mostly what I use it for. The cold, which I always turn ALL THE WAY UP (or down, as is the case) isn't perhaps as noticeable after the first few waves, but that's because it's working. I've had multiple instances where I didn't even need the full 10-minute session to cool down, which is awesome! Since I generally use the Wave 2 for hot flash relief, I'm just now starting to try to use it to relieve stress, and to help me sleep. One thing I'm not wild about is the need to constantly "connect" to the Wave 2, which is different from the 1st iteration. It's inconvenient, but perhaps is designed that way to spare battery life vs being constantly connected. I'm also going through info on the phone app, and it's good to know that I can use the Wave 2 without the app. I generally lower the cooling temp and raise the heating temp every time I use the Wave 2, so it's clear that I can do that on the Wave 2 without the phone app.
I originally purchased the Wave 1 at the end of 2019, went to the beach, and stupidly shoved my arm in the water, which killed it. I waited a long time to get the Wave 2, and I love the smaller size, the thinner band, and the look and effectiveness. I also love the new charger, which is more convenient to use than the Wave 1 plug-in method.

I tried the Wave for a week. I did not experience any relief from my hot flashes. In fact when the unit heats up it makes it worse.

I’m still giving it time but wish the app was working for tracking

I had to maneuver the device around my wrist to find the sweet spot. When I feel a bit off and you will know it then I move it and start to feel the coolness. I am still testing the sleep but if the app ever gets finished maybe I can see the tracking. I’m disappointed in that part but I’m okay with how it is working. I find I am not sticking my one leg out during a hot flash as much as I used to.

So far it has worked ok, they say to give it a week or so to get used to and I do see that it works better and better each day. The warming feature is definitely more noticeable, overall, than the cooling to me, but the cooling does seem to be making more of a difference as time goes by. I like the more rounded design, however I think they should have some type of protective measure on it, they suggest you wear it on the inside of your wrist, so that makes it where you are constantly hitting it on table tops, desks, keyboards etc. I love the "all night" cooling feature since I suffer from night sweats, however the little blue light is SUPER bright, so much so that my husband even complained because he thought I was watching videos in bed and keeping him awake! I have noticed that is seems to not be holding a charge as much as the first week I had it.

Thanks, Adrianne! Quick note about the lights during sleep: you can set your Wave's lights to Discreet or Off in the app's settings. We recommend 'Discreet,' which automatically turns off the lights a second or two after you press a button. ('Off' means no lights at all, even when you press the buttons; so a lot of users prefer 'Discreet' since then you can still see something for a sec when you start a session or adjust the temp level, but the lights are off the rest of the time.) Hope this helps!

It definitely does NOT relieve

It definitely does NOT relieve a hot flash but does feel nice as a cool shot to the wrist. I feel I’d benefit from it more if the cool shot lasted MUCH longer. And I hate the heat that I feel on the edges of the device after the cool gets triggered. The cost to benefit ratio is way off for me. For these reasons I will be returning my ember wave 2.

Unfortunately, the Wave 2 didn't work for me. I am sending it back. The return process has been super easy. I think it may work for hot flashes but I'm just super hot all the time so I was constantly turning it on. I did feel some relief but not enough for the price.

I had the previous generation

I had the previous generation and it had a lot of issues, so I was thrilled when it randomly broke and I could upgrade. The Wave 2 fixes all the issues I was irritated by! I use it mainly for cooling and I wish it were even cooler! But it doesn't heat up at the end like the old one, so I'll take it. It can just run again.
