The best of the Architecture sets

I typically stay away from the Architecture series, because they are usually disappointingly small and overly expensive, especially in relevance to the scale of the model. This is my third Architecture set, with the Eiffel Tower and US Capitol rounding out my current collection. SO MUCH detail went into the base of the statue, including black pieces where the openings to the viewing platforms are. At first, I thought all the pieces were added in to pad the total count and raise the price, but once it's all together, the detail is worth it. This set really shines until you get to the face and head. I personally do not like the use of the spiraled "unicorn horn" pieces for the crown spikes, and the face, as most people seem to agree, is a complete and total letdown. It really leaves something missing from the overall finished appearance, and kind of spoils the show. Again, no detail was spared in the plinth, but it looks like her face melted off. The overall engineering of the piece is second to none. There are hidden Technic elements that firmly tie the statue to the base, and the way the flowing robe and arm pieces are constructed and attached are simply ingenious. Bit of helpful advice, inside bag 5 where all the "skin" elements are, the curved pieces that have definite left and right elements are in separate inner bags, so a little care in opening the bags into separate piles will save you many minutes of double and triple checking pieces (you'll see what I mean when I get there). Overall, this is a fantastic set, is wonderfully large, but Lego should have produced an all new piece for the face element, pre-printed a face on the "home plate" piece that is provided, or given us a rotten sticker at the very, very least. The lack of the iconic face in stark contrast to the detail in the rest of the model leaves the whole thing looking unfinished.

Lady Liberty

I've been to the Statue a Liberty a few years ago. It was really something then, This set was added to my Architecture section. Overall, the repetition is mainly to the plinth section. There is very minimal, if any repetition on the statue build. Be careful on those little small green pieces on part of the body, as I can see why it can be tricky to mess it up. I was impressed with the height and size, a little bit bigger than I expected. The face could've been a little better, but it's not really bothersome if you don't think about it and from a distance, not really noticeable. Overall, a great set.

I have never really been interested in the architecture series, and have never built one before. I have always predominately been a Lego Star Wars nut. But when I saw the Statue of Liberty I just had to have it ? I spent 4 nights building this model and right from the beginning I was blown away with the incredible detail of this model. As I opened each bag, it just got better and better. I would just like to say Great Job LEGO !! I have now ordered the Great Wall of China and I am sure this will be just as fun.

Super Display Piece

Thanks to my grandson I’ve been turned on to the world of Lego. My first few builds were quite simple and fun experiences, starting with the Yellow Submarine and progressing to the VW Beetle. I found the Statue of Liberty to be a refreshing challenge, an enjoyable build that ended with a great display piece. Hats off to LEGO.

Honestly.....

Honestly the base of this set is great with outstanding detail. Great instructions. Although, the body and the face is a disgrace to Lady Liberty. It looks like the designer didn’t even try. The flame on the torch looks like hair from a minifigure. Sad set.

This was a crazy build with so many tiny pieces! Some parts are very repetitive, 4x, once for each side. My biggest complaint is the lack of a face on the statue. Why no face LEGO? This is such an iconic statue and to just leave it blank seems wrong.

The face, or lack of.....

The Lego design of the face is an insult to French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. And me. This statue has a lot of meaning to millions of people. It deserved better treatment.

Hey there! Thank you for your review. Your feedback is important to us, and we're sorry to hear that you didn't like the design of your LEGO® set. Our designers always work really hard to create sets that fit within a theme's style while finding unique, creative ways of showcasing our existing elements. Though every detail of her Lady Liberty's face may not be on display in this set, she still stands tall, serving as a symbol of freedom.

Missed Opportunity

As it stands now, it is the worst Lego set that I own. The build is challenging but the end product doesn’t look too appealing. The simplest thing Lego can do to improve this set is to do something about the face of the statue. Add a sticker or create a inquire Lego piece for the face. The blank face is just lazy on the detail of such an iconic monument. Can’t recommend this to anyone until Lego changes the face.
