Great Statue

This is one of my top 3 builds. It has a lot of ways to make you think. All of the pieces fit perfect. The platform is very sturdy and a little repetitive, but nothing like the empire state building. I would recommend this build to a historian, decorative item for living area. The great thing about this item besides the look is the book. All of the information on the history is a great way for parents to teach their kids.
Only one draw back, the face but can't notice away only up close.

Statue of Liberty 21042

This was a joy to build. Various parts are repetative when building up the base but this never felt tedious or dull.
In spite of the fact that the majority of its 1,685 pieces are one by two plates, tiles, studs and cheese slopes, it is still a very substantial build compared to other sets within the archiceture line.
The set itself has some real presence in a room and it commands attention and is a great talking point. It is a respectable representation of the real thing both propotionally and in its over all shaping.
The way the lighting bounces of every angle of this set means that you can see the build in all its glory from every veiwing angle. The way the bricks seem to weave seemlessly throughout the set makes it a real pleasure to look at when displayed.
Building the parts and then putting them in place was a great experience and highlighted just how incredible the archiceture line has come in the past few years.
There are some great building techniques used which were surprising when you place parts into the overall set.
My only con regarding this set would be the face. It is a real shame that through the entire build a lot of detail can be seen and is very well presented. Adding the blank plate to represent the face felt dissappointing and is almost a discredit to the hard work and dedication the Lego designers must have taken to bring this set to life. Thankfully all the pieces required to adjust the shape to something a little more in keeping with the rest of the build are provided as spares or by making some small adjutments to the build.
The instruction manual was also very well presented and provided a wealth of historical information and did you know moments about the build that help you learn more about the Statue of Liberty itself. This was an excellent experience and added to the overall building journey.

I was born on the 4th of July so naturally my parents thought this would be a good gift. They were right!

Actually a beautiful face!

Much has been said about the need for a “facelift” on this model, but I think the “blank” face actually works really well - gives this more of a LEGO feel and looks much better than the pictures otherwise suggest. The build experience with this one is a great challenge and a lot of fun: really need to pay attention with all those small green pieces! I’ve built (too) many sets over last six months (have become addicted to LEGO), from the Colosseum and Taj Mahal to the UCS Millennium Falcon and Disney Castle; they are all awesome but the Statue of Liberty is the one getting most of the comments from friends and family. It also looks great displayed next to Empire State Builiding!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bought this set for my husband as a Father's Day gift and he loved it. He spent 4 hours at our dining room table, completing it in a single afternoon. Great set for adults who still love legos!

Great detail and design

Lego Architecture amazed me with the level of detail on the pedestal and the creative design of the statue. The small pieces, and there are lots, add so many layers of detail. I am impressed by the final size and overall appearance. This is a great memory piece of her after being in New York. Highly recommend you see this amazing art piece with your own eyes. Lego has done a brilliant job of capturing her. It was a positive experience to build.

Outstanding Display Piece

I have been anticipating this set since it was announced and I purchased it on the first day it was available. The set did not disappoint!
The build was challenging but very fun with several interesting building techniques. There is some repetition on the pedestal section which is to be expected. However, the base looks excellent when finished.
Lady Liberty herself looks great from all angles. The use of many smaller bricks and building techniques adds realistic texture to the model. Truly an impressive representation of an iconic symbol.
Because of all the small pieces and texture, the model can be a bit fragile. Some of the pieces can fall off when handling or moving the model. This means playability of this set is limited. Of course, this is not a factor when it is used as a display piece.
Using the flat plate for the face is a bit of a disappointment it would have been nice to have a print or texture instead.
