Love it for what it is

Reviewing this set from the perspective of what it is - a display model aimed at adult collectors - it's a terrific set. The level of detail is amazing, the finished model looks great, and given the high piece count and challenging (fun) build, it justifies the price. Trying to view this from any other than the aforementioned perspective completely misses the point of the set. A new car that doesn't have self-driving capabilities isn't a bad car or an overpriced car -- it's a car you have to drive yourself. So it goes with this model: if you want a powered train/one you can incorporate into your other LEGO train sets, then buy one of those sets -- don't ding this model for something it isn't.

It's a beautiful set but you will definitely need anger management after completing this build.

Missed the Mark

It is not motorized and does not integrate with the track system. Two very big misses which is why I returned it. My kids were sad. In the future if they make the set motorized and fit on the track then I'll glad purchase it so my family can enjoy it with the other motorized train sets we own.

Great build

This was a fun set. The track was blah it I enjoyed building the train. My only complaint was the tops/side pieces of the passenger car didn’t fit together well.

I loved this set! Although it did come with some great features, it would have been cool to see some motorization of the train and a completed track. Overall, it's a great display piece.

Can’t be motorized

I purchased this set as a splurge for my son with dreams that we would hook it up to our motor and track and run it around the Christmas tree. I was disappointed to learn that it does not fit on standard Lego tracks. Completely baffling design decision. My son did have fun building it and loves it, but we both regret that we can’t use our motor with it. If I had to do over, I would pick a different train.
