Grill grates completely rusted!

I purchased this and seasoned griddle and grill grates continuously but the grill grates keep rusting. So badly now that we don’t cook on them. Would not recommend this unit due to rusting grill grates. The unit lean to the front so the grease does not drain either. I have to put a 2x4 under the front of unit to make the grease drain to the drip pan.

Enjoying this griddle

I bought this model about 6 months ago and have enjoyed using it. I'm thinking some of the bad reviews below are either from damages during shipping or people that don't know how to use a griddle.
Positives - High heat, portable, having a grill and griddle combo provides multiple options (I purchased another griddle insert from a different company and swap out the grilling grates to have two separate griddles at different temperatures). This is fun to use and my kids and I enjoy making smash burgers. Also a great way to cook up bacon without making a mess in the kitchen.
Opportunities - I have read where others have swapped out the wheels and wider wheels would be nice, it is heavy, but the main issue for mine is the locking mechanism is wonky.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My husband purchased the tailgater for Mother’s day. We were really excited to own a Blackstone. We love the food from the griddle.
Unfortunately, after less than a year, the grill side has significant rust damage. The top, sides and inside are all rusted. We keep it covered when not in use. I believe the materials used are not strong enough to tolerate the heat of a grill. The griddle side which we mostly use, is still in good condition.

Great idea!

So thankful I bought my 28” air fryer griddle combo before inflation hit. And with my fine quality product that I’ve had no problem maintaining. Portability would be much easier with this tailgater, but I was expecting a much lower price to justify a purchase.

Rust and tetanus on the Patio

Not even a year old and completely rusting all over the product. Support team said scrape it off. Yea ok the griddle is literally falling apart!!!

We want to clarify that the rust you mentioned is on the cooking surface. If left unused or if seasoned incorrectly, rust is naturally going to happen. That being said, the pictures you sent are not the worst we have seen, and we can guarantee that you can clean it. The process is simple and safe. We have multiple videos and resources for cleaning it up and keeping it from happening again. If you still aren't convinced, we recommend getting into any of the social media groups and looking through their posts. We get a few posts there in the spring for people who go through exactly what you did. You will see many comments of other people giving tips and tricks and helping each other understand. Pretty disappointed with my original Tailgater . I bought it and was super excited. It has left me having to take my steak to friends grill . Will not get hot enough during any kind of wind and was exoensive disappointment . Now a new super expensive unit when i soentbgood money for a dud . No thanks.

Pretty okay, pretty heavy, not very portable

The grill portion doesn’t get very hot and doesn’t sear well. The griddle portion gets hot and does a good job but it came out of the package warped. Fair warning: The entire unit weighs around 150 lbs when assembled, which makes it cumbersome to load and unload without two people. It’s a pretty good unit, but if I do it again, we’ll just get the small griddle and use it for what it does well.
