Versatile warmer but steeper learning curve!

I received this MilkSPA warmer as a product tester. I just had my third child and have used my share of bottle warmers, so I was excited to try this since it has more bells and whistles than a standard warmer. All my children have been breastfed and I have always had concerns about bottle warmers heating breastmilk too quickly/to too high of a temperature, thus destroying nutrients/immunologic benefits. However, per Dr. Brown's, this warmer has the capability to slowly and properly heat breastmilk while preserving nutrients. As a plus, this also heat glass bottles safely!
The warmer itself is quite a bit larger than what I expected (in comparison to my Avent warmer). And, while designed for Dr. Brown's bottles, it had no problem heating both an Avent natural and MAM bottle. When first looking at the warmer, I felt a bit overwhelmed because the instructions/diagrams looked somewhat complicated. However, there is a chart in the booklet that explains all the settings and buttons quite well (but minor complaint- the font/pictures in the booklet are quite small and might be hard for some people to read). After reviewing the chart, the controls on the warmer make sense and weren't difficult to use after all.
Although tap water can be used, the warmer does recommend using distilled water to prevent mineral build up of the heating element. The fill line in the warmer base is pretty easy to see.
I do have a few gripes/suggestions. First, while there is an automatic setting for a 6oz bag of breastmilk (either refrigerated or frozen), there is NOT a setting for a 6 ounce bottle (there are settings for 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11 oz bottles, which vary depending on plastic or glass). This really has me scratching my head because I would think 6 oz would be a pretty common bottle size, especially if there is the foresight for 2/4/6 oz bags of breastmilk. Ideally, there would be a setting for every ounce in terms of length of time for warming. Otherwise, you are left trying to guess how to program your volume for the "perfect" temperature. For example, if you have a 6oz plastic bottle of refrigerated breastmilk and are warming in the bottle (not just the bag itself), you can only choose between a 5 oz setting at 5 min 45 sec or an 8 oz setting at 8 min 45 sec. This is a huge difference and you end up with a bottle either too cold or too hot (again, defeating purpose of properly heating breastmilk). You CAN manually adjust the time, but again it's a guessing game since there is not a standard preset option for every volume. Likewise, the warming options for breastmilk bag presets are only 2/4/6 oz. For moms who have 3, 5, or larger oz bag sizes, again, it's a guessing game for appropriate time.
Be advised- although this warmer is designed to properly heat breastmilk, that doesn't mean it's super speedy (which it shouldn't be for this function). A 4 oz. bag of frozen breastmilk takes 12 min 30 sec to heat properly according to the chart/presets. This is not an option when you have a hungry, screaming baby. Therefore, a suggestion in using this warmer (for frozen breastmilk) is to be prepared way ahead of time and don't wait until last minute when it's coming up on time for a bottle!
Overall, I think this is a great product and I like the peace of mind that comes with the thought that breastmilk its being heated properly. As far as babies who are drinking formula, I don't know that I would choose this one for that purpose, simply because it takes a bit longer than a standard bottle warmer.

Makes warming so easy!!

We used this to warm up refrigerated and frozen breast milk in bags and bottles. The MilkSpa warmed up the milk quickly and to the correct temperature. You can choose what temperature based on what temperature you’re warming it up from. It’s easy to clean and small enough to easily store. Definite must have for any mom.

Good Milk Warmer

I used Dr Brown’s Milk SPA breast milk and bottle warmer and really liked it. I used it to warm the frozen breast milk storage bags and formula bottle. It warmed the milk evenly without over heating. The Auto shut off & timer are really good features because it prevents overheating. Now I don't have to put the breast milk storage bag in the warm water to thaw it and don’t have to keep on checking to see, if it has warmed evenly. Nice product. “I received this product free to test and review”

I gave this four stars because I wish there was some type of water storage tank to use to fill it as needed rather than checking the level for each use. I love how easy it is to set it for frozen or refrigerated or fresh milk. I’ve used it With breast milk bags and bottles with the milk being the correct temperature.

The MilkSpa has been super easy to use. We have another bottle warmer that is nice but very simplistic. This one is great because it’s customizable to the type, size, and container of what you are warming. I also like that it saves your last setting so all you need to do is turn it on and push start.

The warmer is pretty adaptable, from bottles to breast milk bags and baby food. The alarm is a healful feature along with the automatic shutoff. I still always double check the temperature but I do that with any bottle warmer I use.

This is so much easier than heating up a glass of water! I love that it has settings for frozen milk, storage bags, and solid food too! The directions seem a little complicated, but I'm sure it will be easier after I get used to it.
