A worthy improvement over the Gen 1

The larger hopper and receptacle are welcome changes from the gen 1 grinder. The ionizer seems to greatly improve the chaff and mess compared to the gen 1 as well, though I still RDT my beans. I have the SSP burrs and they create a noticeably consistent grind size. The unit is fairly quiet as well.

Fun and easy to operate. The coffee grounds are a perfect balance for the cost/performance of home brew.

Decent grinder, but VERY overpriced

The grinder is capable and reasonably good. Though, it's performance is quite similar to that of a Baratza Encore ESP which is a fraction of the price (and has the legendary Barazta customer service). For what you are paying, you may find this grinder falls short of expectations.

Happy with it

I don’t know enough about coffee to be helpful to the aficionados, but I bought this because it looks awesome and was advertised as clean and quiet. It delivered and for the price it should. I’m enjoying amazing pour overs as a result…

The best

Everything I wanted the gen 1 to be. No feeding issues, much cleaner, quiet. Consistent, fast grind. Essentially no retention, especially when using RDT. After running it through my set of Kruve sieves it's the most consistent grinder I've ran. That includes eureka, baratza, gen 1 ode, and breville. Dare I say I found my forever grinder?

Maintenance heavy
on July 8, 2025

I’ve have both Ode Gen 1 and 2, and the design is beautiful and I love how quiet it is, but it takes too much maintenance. After about six weeks the grounds get stuck, even after clearing them. You have to disassemble the grinder to get them out, which would have been ok, but each time I cleared it and reassembled the grinder still stuck, or ran and ground the beans unevenly. I even recalibrated it. Fellow had to replace my grinder several times, and each grinder did the exact same thing. I’ve never experienced this with a cheap grinder. I am sad this didn’t work out, I loved how it look and aesthetic is my top priority in a product.
I hope they come out with a fix for this soon!

So Far So Good…

After using the new Fellow Ode Grinder for a few weeks, I’m genuinely impressed with the upgrades. The grind consistency is excellent, especially for pour-over and other filter methods. It’s noticeably quieter than many other grinders, and the sleek, minimal design fits beautifully on my countertop.
The redesigned burrs and improved motor performance deliver a smoother and more even grind, which has definitely elevated the quality of my brews. The magnetically aligned catch cup and grind knocker are small but thoughtful touches that make daily use more pleasant.
That said, I’m cautiously optimistic about its longevity—I owned the original Fellow Ode before this, which unfortunately broke down sooner than expected. Here’s hoping this improved version holds up for many years to come, as the performance so far is top-notch.

The Ode gen 2 is an excellent upgrade

I upgraded after my Krups burr grinder died. My coffee tastes great -- I don't have the most discerning palate but even I can tell the difference. The Ode is also lower-pitched and slightly less loud than my previous grinder. There is hardly any retention. I also don't get as much scatter of grounds on the countertop. These were the things that used to annoy me with my old grinder.
