New to burr grinders, but after lots of research and getting over the exorbitant cost of this thing, I have to say it's living up to the hype. Coming from a Krups spice grinder, this is much quieter, much more consistent, much easier to replicate brewing, and deviating from it in search of a better brew. Shifting from buying ground decent quality coffee to beans has been worth it in terms of quality and taste, and this grinder is key. It's jammed once, but is easy to clear (a few little thumps freed the recalcitrant bean). I've only had it about a month, but it's been a good month. The other thing that's impressive is that when I weigh out 45 grams of beans, I end up with 45 grams of ground coffee: there's no retention in the grinder, and this is with oily dark roast beans. Pretty, pretty, pretty cool.

I am switching from a Baratza Encore - and in comparison, the Ode2 is much faster and much quieter! The grind quality is at least as good (I didn’t measure, just observation). Great for drip and pourover. The Ode2 is cleaner as well - fewer rogue grinds. I don’t use the little plastic ring for the grind cup, it doesn’t fit well and seems 100% unnecessary. I wish it was less expensive (loss of one star), I won’t admit to my friends how much I paid for it!

I wanted a quiet grinder, one that's simple to use, solidly built with less plastic, and without retention or other problems. After obsessively researching several grinders, it was the Ode Gen 2 that ticked all the boxes. I've been using it now for several weeks, and it's performed flawlessly. It's not for espresso, but for brewed coffee it is, I think, the best grinder out there!
