The Details Stand Out

Buying a grinder at this price made me very hesitant. I did tons of research and finally decided to try it out. I must say, coming from a hand grinder, this is easily one of the best parts of my brew routine. This grinder is quiet, which is a huge deal breaker for me. I like to brew early in the mornings and I've been around some obnoxiously loud grinders so it's incredible how the team managed to keep this detail towards the front of the design. Speaking of which, this grinder looks amazing on my counter. It's easy to use and overall the cleanup is very minimal. The little details from the magnet in the catch and how it snaps back into place when done is beautiful. Overall, the team did great and kept the details in mind when designing this.

Good product

I have had to recalibrate and undo a large jam with this grinder in the first 2 weeks. It was easy enough to fix and is working perfectly. I wish the microns were listed next to the numbers.

Practically perfect in every way

I had an Encore for nearly 10 years. While it was ok, it was always messy, and the grind was inconsistent. It was rebuilt with the upgraded burrs at some point, which was a pain in the you-know-what, but that didn't help. We'd been on the lookout for a new grinder and let me tell you, it's a HUGE difference.
No mess. Consistent, beautiful grinds. Quiet. No chaff. The flavor profile of my local roasts is stunning now, no matter the brew method.
It's like Glinda floated down in a pink bubble and blessed my coffee with her wizard-gifted magic. Unicorns cried when they smelled the first brew because it was so beautiful. A sloth somehow found the speed to taste the coffee post-haste.
Overall, this is a stunner — both in aesthetics and in taste. The negative reviews I read wanted this to brew coffee and espresso; no machine will realistically handle that. Have two grinders, sugar bear!

Jams like crazy

I honestly was so excited for this grinder and it has been frustrating beyond belief. I have only used specialty light-medium roast coffee for the past 3 months and it has jammed more times than I can count. I've followed Fellow's unjamming videos on youtube, which help... for a few days. I'm just at a loss with how annoying dealing with these issues has been. The coffee tastes great, but not great enough to deal with the headache. Maybe I've gotten unlucky with this product because the reviews don't reflect my experience with the machine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Solid grinder!

This is a very solid grinder and one that is designed well and is aesthetically pleasing on the counter next to your EKG. Is it the best grinder ever … no. Like all things that get daily use, you have to give it some routine maintenance. If you don’t clean the grounds from the magnetic receptacle every once in a while, yeah … they tend to accumulate and then make a mess, but hey … that’s the coffee station in my house anyway! I will say it’s very quiet, and the auto stop feature is nice so as not to damage the burrs. Does it jam? Yep. All grinders will jam if you don’t some routine maintenance. Your mileage may vary, but for me I have had two jams in the last 18 months and that’s without a strict cleaning regimen.

Best pour over/drip grinder out there

This is the second Gen 2 I’ve purchased. The first was for home, second for office. I just don’t believe there is a better combination of workflow, simplicity of design, and consistently fantastic results in the cup out there. I’ve tried the SSP MP burrs, but I ultimately returned to the Gen 2 burrs for their forgiveness factor while still maintaining plenty of clarity. Support and ability to open up the grinder is a plus. A very, very small gripe is having to clean chaff and fines every few days from the exit chute area so that the anti-static prongs work. But that’s a small price to pay for an otherwise stellar grinder.

I've used this grinder for a week and it has wildly improved my home coffee experience! As an ex-barista, I miss cafe-level coffee quality at home. This grinder + good beans = amazing pour overs, and little noise! Take it from me (and James Hoffmann) - if you're looking for a great grinder at this price point or higher, just get this one. You won't regret it!
