Exactly what i needed. I love the chart inside the lid for the right sized grounds, it’s not loud at all (big perk), and doesn’t make a mess. I use it mostly for pour over and cold brew but the occasional moka pot. Very happy with it.

Ode Brew Grinder Gen 2

The grinder sure is good looking - substantial, an eye catcher, etc. But I'm not sure the grind dial is working properly. My brew style is pour-over, and accordingly the setting should be between 4-8. That should achieve medium coarse grains, like sand on a beach. But, with even a 9 setting the grains are very fine, probably too fine. Extraction might be too much. I don't know what to say about the situation. Will soon compare with my old Baratza Encore.

On/off button in a quite awkward placement. Hit several times when placing grounds cup. Good grind quality. Great to have a way to clear grounds retained in burrs but for the money it would have been nice to have a machine that doesn't retain any to begin with.

This has not gone the way I had hoped it would. There is no doubt that the Fellow Ode II has many attributes, and from what I gather, upgrades from its predecessor, Ode I. Unfortunately, it was a struggle for me to get an enjoyable cup of coffee. I found it difficult to get a coarse enough grain for French Press and had to dump out half the coffee I made because it was undrinkable. I found that the notch just below 11 made for a cleaner cup, but with less flavor. After a few uses the grinder jammed. I watched the videos and thought I could clear it, and also recalibrate the burrs. The problem is I couldn’t get the cap off the front of the machine. I don’t have enough strength in my hands, and I have severe thumb arthritis. I tried for a long time and really hurt myself. Perhaps Fellow could add some sort of indent or notch so it can be pried off more easily? So needless to say, I’m completely disappointed. I really thought this would be a great fit for me, but it just couldn’t work out. Customer service has been helpful. It would be nice if you could speak to someone on the phone.

I recently purchased the Fellow coffee grinder and was attracted to the sleek design and the idea of a quiet grinder. Unfortunately, I am giving this product a two star rating due to its limited grinding time and the issue with coffee grounds getting stuck inside. After a few seconds of grinding, the machine gets jammed and I have to hit or shake it to get it going again. This is a huge inconvenience and it makes the product useless. I would not recommend this grinder to others.

A worthy upgrade from the Gen 1

Overall the Gen 2 is a worthy upgrade from the Gen 1 ... The added capacity is welcome, and I have used it a few times for cold brew grinding. However, the star of the show is the upgraded anti-static system they put in ... I've really had consistent, low retention grinds and really just appreciate not having much, if any grind shower to have to worry about!
If I were to get picky, I think the lid for this grind jar is not as well engineered as the Gen 1 ... it seems to loose and comes off way to easily ... would love Fellow to make it tighter and maybe increase the depth of the lip so that it has a snugger, more stable fit.
