Beautiful but flawed in practice
on February 10, 2025
Posted by: mp207
It's very beautiful and intuitive to use, although it's a little small for daily use by more than 1 person. I've given it 3 stars because there are some key design flaws:
1) The lid is difficult and almost dangerous to open when the kettle is on. It's hard to avoid the hot steam coming out of the vents because of the design of the lid. I drink tea and my partner drinks coffee. It's a small enough kettle that we have to refill or top it off it after making coffee/tea for one of us, so we're often taking off the lid when there's still very hot water inside. It's very frustrating. I've had other electric kettles and this has never been a problem.
2) There is only an option to turn the "hold mode" on or off (using a button at the back of the kettle) and the hold mode time is really long (60 min). I have forgotten about it after pouring some tea and then have noticed that the kettle was basically warming nothing because there wasn't any water inside after the little that was left evaporated. For a device that is supposed to allow for precision, it would be nice if there was the ability to select a wider range of hold mode times and for there to be a sensor so that if there isn't any water inside, it turns off.
Overall, there are other kettles on the market with the same level of temperature precision, more hold time options, and less physical design flaws (bigger tank and lids that aren't dangerous to open when hot). They might not have as beautiful of a temperature selection design, but I think i'm going to switch to a different brand because the things I listed above annoy me too much.

Other than poor quality I would have liked it a lot.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love the new slate-blue color

The new colors and real walnut wood handle are why I purchased this kettle. I was pleased to discover that they’ve made some small improvements from the original one. The annoying tiny slide switches on the back are gone, replaced by a push button next to the temperature knob, and the lid fits better. Otherwise, it heats fast, maintains the set temperature perfectly, and is a pleasure to use for pour over.

Flawed for the price I paid.

Why do I have to reset the clock every time I schedule the unit to heat? It defaults back to 12:00am every day as soon it finishes heating. Also, why is the unit not heating up to the programmed temperature when I schedule it? When I use it manually, the unit heats up to the temp I set ie 204, 205, etc. When I schedule, it only gets up to 194F and won’t go any higher unless I unplug and plug in the unit. It’s like it gets stuck.

Overpriced, cheap materials, all about the looks
on December 1, 2021

This kettle is mostly about looks.
The base is cheap plastic and the one button is temperamental - I have to hit it multiple times before it registers being turned on/off. Crazy for the price.
Extremely slow pour rate means it isn't useful besides coffee (for anything I else, I remove the lid and awkwardly dump the boiled water out of the top).
The timer isn't hugely useful - the kettle has to be on (and therefore trying to boil itself) to use the timer, so I have to set the empty kettle down somewhere else to watch the base count up (so the unit doesn't fry itself once I've poured the water out) - at which point a phone or watch is easier.

It’s my favorite kettle

I’ve used a lot of different electric kettles, but this one is by far my favorite. It’s ergonomic handle, it’s quick heating speed, and the overall look to it is so enjoyable. Even the way the lid drops into the top of it, it’s just a high-quality dialed in electric kettle, that’s perfect for my homebrewing set up.

Love this kettle, but I

Love this kettle, but I wish it was bigger. I use a ten cup Chemex, and I have to refill the kettle halfway through brewing.
