Pretty but not great

Coming from a Hario kettle I really wanted to like this however a few elements make it not worth the premium price. The on button feels cheap to use and 2 out of every 10 times does not turn on when you push it. The kettle also holds very little water so if you’re pouring 2 glasses plus pre-rinsing your filter than you’re probably not gonna make it. The max fill line in the inside of the kettle is also located in the most inconvenient place, forcing you to reach around and peer sideways as you’re pouring your water. And finally I order the walnut handle and in use the kettle is heavy and awkward. I usually take a small break from pouring at the 1:30 mark to give my arm a rest which is something I never had to do with my Hario kettle. I also had to return the first one I ordered because of quality control issues.

Stagg ekg kindness

During a really difficult time for my family, the ekg kettle that I had just bought got destroyed in an accident that was my fault, these amazing dude heard what happened, and replaced my brand new kettle, I won’t forget that. Kindness is more important than aesthetics, coffee, tech, or any other thing which makes my kettle nice. Thank you for being kind, y.

Disappointed

My wife and I were disappointed by this one. We looked forward to getting it, and I'll grant that I like the gooseneck spout and it does heat very quickly, but we've been disappointed at the workmanship. The top handle of our kettle was loose from day one, and it quickly began coming off, before the wood knob cracked altogether. Although the appearance of the wood handles is attractive, it's not worth it if it fundamentally isn't appropriate for regular use. We wish we had bought something else.

Lid color doesn't match

The Stagg EKG kettle works great, but with the white version I purchased, the color of the lid is a different shade of white than the rest of the kettle. Kind of a bummer when you are paying a premium for the appearance of the product.

Fellow Stagg Kettle - Form Subverts Function
on June 30, 2021

from US
This product has several serious design defects, which I list below. The fact that the product nonetheless made it through Fellow’s Quality Assurance is reason to feel uncertain about whether this company can offer quality products.
The first four and most glaring defects have to do with Follow’s assignment of three distinct functions — temperature setting, heat on/off, and timer — to a single button in order to achieve a visually sleek appearance. This design adheres to the anti-Bauhaus principle: “Form subverts function”.
1) If you follow the Stagg Kettle’s instructions, then the Kettle does not even turn on. I had to report to Fellow that my Kettle arrived DOA before I could get it to work. As it turns out, whomever wrote the instructions was so confused about the single, functionally-overloaded button that they made a blatant error in describing its on/off function. To state the obvious: The instructions are part of the product. And no well-designed electronic product should require a service complaint to just turn it on.
2) The heat on/off and timer functions cannot be controlled independently (so far as I can tell). But if you (like I) use a Clever Dripper, then you want to keep the timer going but turn off the heater after you finish pouring. The Stagg Kettle cannot do this (again, so far as I can tell).
3) If you do use a long press to initiate the timer, then the instructions provide no information about what subsequent presses (long or short) do. Evidence from my trial and error experiments suggests that one short press stops the timer while yet another short press turns off the heater. Of course, this is “just” a defect in the instructions. But again: The instructions are an integral part of the product.
4) In using the timer, there is not a way to set up an alert that your brew time limit has been reached. This design deficiency may also be a consequence of insisting on having that single, sleek-looking, already functionally-overloaded button. It also means that if you use a Clever Dripper, then you cannot look away. You must be vigilant in monitoring the Stagg Kettlle’s timer until you reach the magic minute.
5) The Max Fill line in the Kettle's (opaque) interior is on the handle side. That means that you cannot see it if you’re holding the Kettle (with the handle, of course) as you fill it with water. This design choice seems gratuitously mindless of how people ordinarily fill a kettle.
