I have a functioning older vacuum from another manufacturer and I wanted a lighter weight machine. Based on market news and reviews I purchased this and I am very glad I acted upon the reports. As an experiment I vacuumed my main living area (Berber pile carpet and tile floors) with the older unit first. Then I followed up with the Bissell. We have three cats of differing ages and breeds. I was very impressed with the amount of hair and dirt that the new unit picked up from the 'cleaned' floors. Impressive ease of operation and disposal of the collected stuff. For the price, you cannot go wrong. Plus, the cats aren't petrified by the noise of operation.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've been using the vacuum for about 2 weeks. I bought this vacuum specifically because our dog is shedding a bunch and I don't like pet hair on the carpet. It does a good job of sucking up the hair, the canister is easy to empty and place back on the machine, and I love the automatic winding of the cord. Two things I don't like: it is somewhat difficult to push, even with the correct carpet setting on. And the roller spins even when you're not pushing it, so when using the attachments, the carpet is still being rolled in the one spot--not really the best design. Overall, I hope it is worth the money paid. And please enter me in the #sweepstakes!
