Have tried on rugs, carpet, vinyl flooring...I have a large dog and several cats, why even advertise as a pet vacuum? Attachments may work okay but the straight up function of the vacuum is balls. Not worth the money and have been highly unsatisfied with this purchase. Try pushing this vacuum under any settings 1-4 on regular carpet/longer fabric rugs and you legit won't have to go to the gym since that'll be your workout.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had mine for about 7 months now. Every time I use it, it squeals really loud then starts smelling. So now, every time I vacuum I also have to take it outside and clean it out.

Belt broke first time I used it

I was impressed and amazed by how much fur/dirt it was pulling out of the carpet-despite the fact I'd just used my old vacuum 3 days earlier AND had used my bissell carpet cleaner as well. However, after 20 minutes of vacuuming I noticed a burnt rubber smell, and the brush quit working. I opened it up and the belt was already broken. I'm now stuck waiting on a replacement belt before I can vacuum. It was quite frustrating to have the belt break the very first time I used it, and I really hope it isn't an indicator of how it will work in the future. I don't want to be wasting money on constantly replacing belts.
