Best mount to secure your smartphone

Have you been making mobile movies with your smartphone lately, using “all metal”, “heavy”, “lumpy and big” peripheral accessories, with a lot of sweat and stress?
Those are great ways to go, but when I use a “smartphone cinema camera” I want a full set that is as lightweight and small as possible.
Peak Design has that full set.
The “SlimLink mount” that can be shared with Peak Design's Mag-Safe is a great mount that stands head and shoulders above the rest, no matter how many imitations and similar mounts are out there in 2024.
Those are great ways to go, but when I use a “smartphone cinema camera” I want a full set that is as lightweight and small as possible.
Peak Design has that full set.
The “SlimLink mount” that can be shared with Peak Design's Mag-Safe is a great mount that stands head and shoulders above the rest, no matter how many imitations and similar mounts are out there in 2024.
I pre-ordered the recently released iPhone16 Pro and purchased the iPhone16 Pro Everyday Loop Case at the same time to enjoy the iPhone Cinema Camera as usual.
And I am amazed and impressed by the top quality ProRes 4K 120P video beauty of the iPhone16 Pro.
The Mobile Creator Kit with Slim Link Mount is a fantastic way to utilize this in my work.
I would recommend this mount to all aspiring mobile creators and to all professional photographers, photographers, and filmmakers who use their smartphones as sub-cameras.
And I am amazed and impressed by the top quality ProRes 4K 120P video beauty of the iPhone16 Pro.

Does not fit go pro mounts

Good product for some uses. Does not fit any of the gro pro mounts I have tried to date. This is a big drawback as this is what I purchased it for. However, I was able to adapt it for vehicle use so it did not go to waste. Would like to see something that allows the peak design phone case click into this adaptor and then be able to attach to a go pro mount.

Won't stay in place even when fully tightened.

I bought this to use with the Gnar case that I will also be returning. The connection between the case and the mount seems very solid and easy to use. My issue with this mount is the GoPro connection. Even with it tightened down to a ridiculous level, the arm still moves with very little force. I'm not going to trust my phone to a mount that will easily swing forward or back. None of my other Gopro attachments (OEM or knockoff) suffer from this kind of looseness. When they are tightened they stay put. Not sure what's going on here but this product fails for me in a critical area and one of the simplest pieces.

Plastic material is too weak!

I really liked it right up until it failed in a very preventable way. The 1/4-20 mount piece is not made of a material that is strong enough for actual field use.

Rattles and weak structure

Mounted to a gopro mount on my gravel bike handlebars. The latching fit was looser / more play than any of my other Peak Design mounts. It was the loudest thing on my bike on a bumpy road! Forget about actually trying to film with it -- it bounced around way too much on the mount and the rattling sound was super loud.
Also, it was very difficult to get the GoPro mount tight enough to prevent slipping, and I eventually broke the peak design mount while trying to adjust the angle. It's hard to say whether my bike's Tailfin GoPro mount or the Peak Design mount is to blame for the slippage. But the junction of the plastic arm to the slimlink mount is a weak point on the Peak Design mount.)
