Cannot live without Nanit!

Best baby monitor by a landslide! I used Nanit and another monitor for my first child and quickly moved entirely to the Nanit. Now as we prepare for our second child, there's no question we are using Nanit for both kids rooms. The user experience is so seamless. The app and video quality gives me and my family such piece of mind. Super easy for babysitters to use, too. And, now that they came out with the home system, I'm even more committed! Thank you for being so amazing, Nanit!

Great monitor and app

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had a few other types of baby monitors in the past and they have all had a separate parent monitor so this is the first one I’ve had with an app to use your phone to see your kiddo. Let me tell you, the picture clarity is pretty awesome!…except at night. I was so impressed when I set it up how much I could see and how well I could see it. The lens can see the whole room and I love that you can zoom in manually if you want. I just have the shorter stand for this monitor so I have it sitting on either the dresser in our/his room or on top of the kitchen cabinet when I am at work and the babysitter is there. I love that I can easily move it around like that depending on where I need it. The base of the stand has decent weight to it to help keep it from tipping over, which I love. I was kind of surprised at first it only has a hinge to manually move the camera up or down when you are setting it up, but once I got the app set up and I can see the wide view the camera provides to see the whole room, I realized I don’t really need to be able to move it perfectly like I had to with my other ones. The app has a ton of features I find could be so very useful as a one stop shop type of thing. I had a different app that helped track his diapers, sleep, feedings, etc that was essential to me but this Nanit app has all of that too! So you really could use it for everything AND all of your baby tracking too! I will say the subscription is a bit pricey but if you are interested in using all of it’s features, I could see it being worth it! Now….maybe it’s just me, but I feel the night time mode picture clarity could be improved on. Cannot see my baby near as well as in daylight but I will attach a picture and let you decide that yourself. I was delighted to receive this Nanit Essential Smart baby monitor for free as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

Watch your baby anywhere any time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product through stellar product testing panel and since I started using this monitor I feel more connected to my baby because I am able to watch him from anywhere and be able to zoom in to see his little chest move up and down any time. It's a comfort I didn't know I needed. Being able to watch the video history back was just the sweetest thing. I was able to keep track of how long his naps were and at what time he napped. It is a great feature to have available. I was very nervous and anxious to leave him with my mom to watch but being notified while I was out was a relief. I could see the temperature of the room. I could talk to him if I needed to too. My favorite thing about this product was being able to connect through an app from my phone and not have to be home to watch him sleep. Also the easy set up made it that much more convenient.

It does everything

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the basic setup and anatomy of this baby video monitor. It’s simple, there aren’t a million buttons to figure out, and you just plug it in and set it on a nightstand, dresser, or wherever is convenient. That alone was a huge plus for me.
One of my favorite things is that the monitor screen is just on my phone, because I always have my phone with me anyway. My sister-in-law lives across the street, and so many times I used to run back home just to check on my babies while my other kids were at her house. This has been incredibly convenient because now I can just pull up my phone and see if my baby is still sound asleep or if she needs me.
We also have four other children, so we are constantly on the go, often outside playing in the backyard or doing something around the house. Again, it is so nice to have my phone notify me if my baby is moving or crying so I can start heading inside if needed.
When I first got this, I told my husband, “Holy smokes, this thing does everything.” It measures your child, tells you the temperature in the room, the humidity, and just goes above and beyond what I expected from a monitor.
The only negative for me is that you have to purchase a subscription plan to access all of the features. I totally understand that the company has to make money somehow, so I do get it. But for me personally, I don’t feel the need to pay for the monthly subscription. Just being able to hear and monitor my baby is enough. I will say, though, if this had been my first baby, I probably would have been more tempted to buy the subscription for the extra peace of mind.
Since I didn’t purchase the subscription, I can’t use some of the extra features, like saving all of those sweet video moments automatically when baby wakes up or is happily playing in the crib. But I’ve still had some really sweet moments with it. A few times I’ve been outside or in another room and pulled up the video to see her smiling, and I’ve been able to quickly save a picture right then. The other day I was at another mom’s house watching a seminar, heard a noise notification, and checked the app. My husband was in the room making her laugh. She wasn’t sleeping, but being able to catch that little moment was so precious to me.
Overall, this monitor has been extremely practical for our family. The app is very easy to use, and even though I don’t use all the subscription features, the baseline features are really all I need. I’ve been very happy with it. Thank you Stellar Product Testing Panel for giving me the opportunity to test this product and use it in my home.

Connected while away

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this baby monitor to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. My husband and I loved having this monitor with us during our recent travels. We were able to easily set it up in a library while our little one slept in a pack-and-play and then later in a bedroom. We even went on a date night while Grandma and Grandpa stayed home with her, and it was so reassuring to know that if she cried or stood up, we would be able to see and hear her. Thankfully, she slept the whole time! Even though we were only about 15 minutes away, it was nice not having to worry about being "in range" like we do with our other non-Wi-Fi monitor, which loses signal even if we're in the front yard during naptime.
One feature I really liked was the notifications. We actually used them when we couldn't remember what time our little one had fallen asleep for her nap. It was also fun to be able to take screenshots of her sleeping. My favorite feature, though, was being able to receive notifications when crying was detected or when she started moving. Our original video monitor definitely can't do that. My second favorite feature was the built-in white noise machine. We used to have to travel with both a sound machine and a baby monitor, plus find outlets for both. Having everything in one device meant one less thing to pack.
My only small complaint is that with just the shelf stand, the camera needs to be placed fairly high to get a good view of the crib. So far, we've been able to find a high shelf or dresser while traveling, but ironically, at home we'd need to install a floating shelf to get the same view.

Five years and 3 kids

Five years and 3 kids later and I still am trusting nanit for the most accurate notifications and connection to my baby while they sleep. My eldest son has severe asthma and I can always rely on the connection overnight as well as the sound quality. The activity tracker in particular has gotten so much better over the years and is really helpful in those first few months.

Nice monitor but could be better

I was super excited to try this as we are on the go a lot, and really needed a monitor that could go with us. The set up was super easy and connected quickly, there was a firmware update right out of the box, which typically would be annoying but it’s nice to know we have the most current firmware. The manual/set up booklet states it comes with a breathing brand but the box doesn’t indicate it does. This is confusing, and I spent too long looking for the band that wasn’t there. The camera itself is super compact and the stand it connects to is secure, I wish the travel stand had the ability to extend a little as it is a little small and kind of hard to make work in travel spaces. The quality of the camera is extremely clear, it’s super easy to see my baby even in the dark. It’s sleek, modern and easy to use so no complaints there. I’m not the biggest fan of the app, it’s pretty basic at the entry level tier and is actually kind of expensive since there’s no monthly option. I feel like just monitoring the camera should be free or very low cost, and obviously upgraded options would cost more. Overall I am happy with the monitor and have used it several times back and forth and it’s been very smooth.

Simple Reliable and Gives Me Peace of Mind

The Nanit Essential Smart Baby Video Monitor has been a great addition to our home. As a mom of a baby and toddler, I love being able to quickly check on my baby from anywhere using the app. Whether I’m in another room or away from home, it’s nice knowing I can see how he’s doing at any time.
The video quality is clear during both the day and night, and I found the app easy to use. One feature I really liked was the video history and saved clips. It was fun being able to look back at special moments and see things I may have missed. I essentially love the fact that there is a motion detector that tells you when my Baby Boy cries and or moves so I can comfort him when he does cry.
I also love the look of the monitor itself. It has a clean, modern design that blends nicely into my room, where the baby sleeps with us in his crib without looking bulky or taking away from the room’s decor.
What I like most about this monitor is the peace of mind it gives me. I can check on my baby whenever I want without having to walk into the room and risk waking him up. Overall, it’s simple to use, works well, looks great in my room, and helps me stay connected to my little one throughout the day.
