I joy the Nanit but it is definitely expensive for what you get. It’s frustrating that insights are only available with the purchase of expensive accessories and an additional subscription
Product is difficult to use. Nothing is super simple to figure out how to use and it seems like there ton of different buttons with different options. Its camera and quality is good and notification system is very responsive to any little thing happening in the room.
We love our nanit it gives us a peace of mind when our son is asleep. He has been sleeping on his own and in hisown bedroom since he was 6 months and the nanit helps us track any middle of the night wake ups.
overall, i think this monitor has just been hyped up by social media and is way too expensive for the poor quality.
the camera isn’t strong and not as clear as the advertising depicts it to be. constantly blurry. if i zoom in to check if my son’s chest is moving from breathing, it’s pixelated and any movement is often choppy or glitchy. and the monitor and camera sometimes disconnect!
the monitor itself also loses battery very quickly. doesn’t even make it through one night without dying unless it’s plugged into the charger.
and the sleep insights are often wrong. it reports that a caregiver helped my son, but no one actually did. or that my son woke up in the middle of the night, but didn’t.
you’re also not able to select a specific timestamp or clip to save down as a memory. so if my son was doing something cute or hit a new milestone in his crib like rolling over, i can only download what the app has logged as a specific activity (like he woke up, was crying, etc) not a specific clip.
I decided to give the Nanit Pro a try, hoping it would make my life a bit easier, and I have to say, it really has. The video quality is impressive—even in low light—and the app is super intuitive; everything is right where you’d expect it. Setting it up was a breeze—no strange glitches, just a smooth sync, and it was good to go. I found myself relying on the breathing band feature more than I anticipated, especially during the night, and the sleep tracking has been a great way to identify patterns without the hassle of logging everything manually. What stands out the most for me is its consistency. It connects seamlessly when I launch the app, notifications come through as they should, and I don’t find myself constantly adjusting settings or troubleshooting issues. It’s one of those gadgets that quietly does its job without drawing attention to itself. For a product in this price range, that kind of reliability is a game changer, and it truly feels like a worthwhile investment.
Honestly so worth the price! I was back and forth between phone monitor or a screen monitor and having it on your phone always available is so nice! Also will let you hear the sound even if you’re not using the app so you can hear when baby is crying even if you’re not looking!
