Best affordable machine on the market. I highly recommend this machine paired with the Breville Dose grinder pro. I'm a coffee professional, a manager at a third wave shop and therefore I have the coffee theory training to my advantage, BUT this machine can extract delicious espresso just as good as I can make from the shop. It also has industry size portafilter and basket which is great. Finally, the steam wand is sweeet-- a big step up from Breville's smaller machines: my latte art is great using this machine (it has a whole heating element dedicated to the steam wand so it gives good preasure). Lastly-- take care of the machine-- use good water and maintain.
I would recommend this to a friend!

afraid to descale

A I actually haven't made espresso yet. A friend gave me this machine used, because I really love my breville coffee maker. I need instructions on how to descale (printed, not a video where i have to remember every step). Now, after reading the reviews i am afraid to descale anyway. The coffee maker wasn't this difficult.

Great pro grade machine

Bought it used, had to repair it. Parts where still available and it was an easy solenoid replacement. Keep in mind that in order for this machine to last a long time you need to maintain it and condition it constantly. Cleaning it after every use and deep cleaning every few cycles helps a lot with durability.
Buyer beware. This is the third dual boiler 920 machine I have had in a row that is seriously faulty. The first one worked well for several years, although the steam valve leaked chronically. Eventually it stopped going to pressure during a shot. Neither cleaning nor descaling solved the problem. The gauge actually wouldn't even get off the lowest mark. It wasn't a malfunctioning gauge; the amount of water pushed thorough without a basket was far below what was needed. Replaced it with a new 920 only to find that after a month it too stopped attaining pressure! Same problem! Sent it back under warranty and received a brand new one, not a rebuilt unit. Now that one--after only a few weeks--also is not attaining pressure. I have made sure that the unit is not constrained physically so that it isn't overheating. The support team seems unable to provide me with any kind of explanation. I will probably have to spend many thousands on a different brand of machine. Hugely disappointing and very frustrating!

Steamer boiler is difficult to unclog without extreme maintenance & repair costs. Breville should engineer a better system that makes problem parts easily accessible & more user friendly.

Too Loud

I bought this machine 2months and it a very loud unit when using the water and the making a shot, if this is a commercial comparison this machine is loud residential use in a kitchen, I hate using cause of the noise it makes

Sent our dual broiler back for refurbishment, got a new model. Hope this one works another 7 years! Since the newer model can be descaled it should last longer.
