Solid double boiler espresso machine

I truly enjoyed the cost/benefit of this machine. This is a solid fully manual double boiled and at the same time affordable machine for espresso lovers who want to develop their skills and achieve a higher level of Barista performance. I own this machine for almost 2 years now. During this period, I perfected my skills and now I can make perfect shots, way better than the local fancy coffeeshops in my city. If you are engaged in learning and has the patience for developing these skills, this is the machine I recommend for you. The next level is the E61 machines, which are 70 to 120% more expensive.

2 Machines, both only lasted less than 2 years.

Bought the first machine 2016, lasted 18 months before issues with not reaching temp. Boiler problem, Breville swapped it out. Took ages. Second machine, lasted just over 2 years. Just outside warranty. Same thing and then started leaking. Not happy. Only 2 person household, surely at this price it should last at least 5 years?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Just Bought a Second One

I just bought my second one of these. The first one lasted about 7 years and went back for service once in that time frame. Warranty support and tech support is very good. We use our machine on average 3 times a day. (Some days 6 times, some days just twice.) It gets a good workout. It is a very expensive machine. I have gone through 7 or 8 machines over the last 25 years. There really are not a lot of options for a quality durable machines. So yes, it is very expensive, but you are probably going to get 6,500+ espressos out of it if you clean it routinely. I liked it enough from my first experience and really could not find anything better when it finally died, so I recently bought a second one.

Second one is a dud

I bought my first dual boiler in 2013 and it was a fabulous machine! Unfortunately, I lost if in the Marshall Fire in 2021 and my replacement machine is a complete dud. It doesn’t build pressure past 2.5. I’ve sent it back to Breville for repairs and it’s worse now. I have the Breville grinder, fresh expensive coffee, and a calibrated tamper it’s the machine. Last one I’ll buy. I’m hearing great things about the Jura.

Everything I need in an espresso machine, and more!

This machine was an upgrade for me. I’d been using the Duo Temp, which is a great machine, but I finally needed more. After salivating over this machine for over a year, I pulled the plug and ordered my shiny new Breville Dual Boiler.
I’ll start by saying, I’m not a fan of machines with the bean grinder built in, I want more control over the grind, and like having a separate machine for that specific action. I also love the option to explore any grinder I choose to use with my wonderful Dual Boiler machine. At this point, I’m using the Breville Smart Grinder Pro, I love the results thus far.
The Dual Boiler is everything I could have asked for in a wish list, it does it all. This machine was very well thought out. Naturally, the first big win is a dual boiler, giving me the ability to froth milk while making my espresso shots. While this may seem simple, it saves a lot of time. I oftentimes find myself making 4-5 drinks for my daughter’s friends. With the ability to steam milk and make shots at the same time, I’m serving drinks as fast as any barista could. Also, I love that my milk steaming is now controlled with the wand on the right side of the machine, it feels very nice, and yields great results.
The milk steams twice as fast as my old machine, its amazing! This is also major, since its speeds up the process when making multiple drinks. I love that I can add water from the front of the machine, I also love the hot water dispenser, my old machine had this, but the water came from the milk steam wand, and it was not as fast or effective. The Dual Boiler has a hot water dial on the left side of the machine, and it works great and fast. The water dispenser is also larger, so you need not add water as often. Speaking or larger, I must mention the drip tray is much larger than what I’m used to, so you don’t need to dump water after every couple drinks. This also works well when flush my filters since I have more room in the drop tray.
There a preset button for one or two shots, but you can use the manual feature which is what I use. I have not yet gotten into the advanced settings since I’ve had the machine for only a couple weeks, but I can honestly say this is the most fun I’ve ever had with coffee. I am creating incredible tasting beverages with ease in my home with this machine. I believe that to produce great results, you must have great tools, this machine is everything I could wish for. Bravo Breville.

I use the machine daily and for at least 2 years, it holds up well. When I've had issues with my machine breaking down, or having a leak, I contacted Breville customer support for assistance. Once they replaced the machine for free, and twice I've paid to have it repaired and was sent a new machine as a replacement. Overall, I'm satisfied with my initial purchase over 6 years ago.
