A terrific, quality, machine backed up by tip top customer service. It's likely this isn't your first trip to the Espresso Rodeo if you are considering this machine and you'll be very happy with the results. I'm very happy with the value for money for a piece of kichen gear that is , after all, a bit of a luxury. I get very consistent pulls without having to babysit anything. The steam function with the second independant boiler works wonderfully and it is both a pleasure to use and a snappy looking machine too.

This was a Christmas present for my husband and I to each other. It was hard to convince a guy who’s been drinking black coffee from a Bunn for 35 years, let alone spending that much money, but after one cup, he was hooked and packed up his “old reliable coffee flavored water maker” (at least that’s what it tastes like after having an Americano from this machine.
I was reluctant to get another espresso maker after having a bad experience, 20 years ago, and thinking how much work & trouble it took, but the dual boiler makes it so easy. I’m able to whip up my milk while running the espresso maker in no time. We actually quite enjoy the experience and it was a hit with the family during the holidays.

I love this machine for the number of features, the price, and the form function. There are many things that make it near perfect - the pressure and temperature gauge, the wheel in the undercarriage that allows it to be easily moved, the double boiler and pre-infusion of the portafilter, the front access to the water dispenser, the front water gauge, the ease of cleaning, the cleaning reminders, and most of all the quality of the shots.
And yet, this is the third machine I've gone through because the interior seals appear to fail pretty regularly. Usually within a year of purchase, the water dispenser and steamer start to drip pretty regularly and condensation begins to bead in the both the LED temperature and pressure gauges. I want to love this machine. I want to continue to recommend it, but I'm struggling right now. :-(. My new replacement machine is already exhibiting symptoms after three weeks of use.
I'm happy to revise this review if we can get to the bottom of what is happening with these seals
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Opportunity to Trade In for Upgrade. Process Took Too Long

Breville was generous in extending a 30% discount to replace my older out-of-warranty machine when they declined to fix it. However, we rely on that espresso machine everyday and it took over 3.5 weeks to process and delivery the replacement. It forced me to go out and buy a small coffee maker until the new one was received. I believe the order was stuck in warehouse for approval. Or so I was told.

Great entry level dual boiler with some build quality issues

In terms of drink preparation, the unit produces really good espresso and steaming wand is adequate; not the highest performance but good enough. I have bought two units in the past 8 years. They are pretty good for about 3 years, then subpar components start to fail. My first iteration developed a leak on the steam boiler which could not be repaired. So I received a full refund from the extended warranty service as Breville only covers 2 years. I purchased another one and it ran perfectly fine until it developed a leak at the steam wand last August/September 2023. It seems like the seal for the manual lever valve has worn out and needs replacement after a little less than 3 years of service. Breville warranty is expired and it is not worth the hassle to send it to the extended warranty for repair as the leak is more of a nuisance. I can still steam the milk and pull shots on it. But it definitely puts me on a path to replace it with something different next time. I would have expected a longer service life without the quality issues observed. I do all the maintenance on the unit, including descaling every 4 months and cleaning head assembly after each shot (rinse) and then about every 2-3 weeks with the cleaning tablet.
I would still recommend the unit because of the price point for a dual boiler and the quality of the drinks it can produce. But I would be open about potential quality issues and would highly recommend supplementing with an extended warranty.
