Great machine but I do have some inconsistencies with pours from shot to shot after dialing in. Overall makes excellent coffee without going to the coffee shop!
If you are looking for a machine that will make good espresso and take you less than 5 minutes to make a beverage, this is the machine for you. I’ve use it almost everyday for two years. Message for Breville: While I haven’t had to replace any parts on this machine, please keep making replacement parts for this machine. I am looking forward to using this product for years to come.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent at home Expresso Machine

This machine balances all aspects of expresso making with convenience. To elaborate - (Have made about 30 drinks now over a week since purchase)
*Auto Milk frothing is excellent *Expresso consistency is good enough *Grind and tamp appears to be consistent *Just fits under Kitchen cabinets at 17.75" tall
Machine setup: The only adjustments out of the box I made was the tamp fan height adjustment to get the portafilter grind to around 18-20grams. I also adjusted the temperature to 201°F from the default 199°F. The default drink profiles in the machine I find perfect and the fact you can save your favorite recipe's are fantastic.
Coffee Quality: Consistency between shots and even day to day is certainly up to each individuals perspective. I find that the Consistency is good enough and I doubt I would be able to make it any more consistent if I bought a manual machine & grinder such as a Profitec. For initial setup I used a kitchen scale to get the right dose in the portafilter, and have it set up for a 1:2 ratio (20g coffee 40g out). I keep the grinder setting on 20 and if I'm looking for the perfect shot I will have to dial in the grinder setting day to day by 1 or 2 steps. Even if I don't, it still makes great tasting expresso to me. To be quite honest, I'm impressed with the consistency once setup considering the variables of expresso making.
I found that when I poured what was considered a perfect shot (mouse trail flow, 28-30s extraction time and a perfect 1:2 ratio) I had a very sour and back of the throat burning sensation cup of expresso with medium roast coffee. I have chalked this up to the fact I'm using Medium roast Starbucks coffee beans. With this particular coffee, a slightly more watery flow or under extraction produces a much more balanced and pleasant cup of coffee. It's also the reason I took the temp up to 201°F, to try and get some of the acidity out of the coffee. With expresso the darker your roast the lest likely you should experience the acidity of the coffee.
Milk Frothing: Excellent and extremely consistent. Why froth manually anymore? The thing just works so dang well. No negatives. No need to adjust the settings for the default drinks either. Being able to froth milk and pour the shot at the same time is a huge time savings with the dual boiler.
This machine gives the customer just the right amount of manual adjustability to where you can literally dial in any coffee bean, with automatic features good enough to maintain what I consider a very consistent coffee/expresso/cappuccino/latte.
The little things: The creature comforts of setting the machine to start heating up for any schedule for each day of the week is an underrated feature. Coffee needs to be convenient and most higher end dual boiler expresso machines can take up to 30 minutes to fully heat up. The ball bearing to move on the counter is so nice as well. The knock box is just such a nice addition.
Reliability: As expected, the machine hasn't had any issues yet. It comes with a two year warranty and the long term reliability is yet to be determined. I plan on doing the scheduled maintenance to the book and as such I expect this machine to easily last for as long as I take care of it. I question some of the bad reviews if the end user was replacing the water filter, descaling, and backlashing the unit appropriately. If you don't take care of it, don't expect it to last very long.
TLDR; To summarize: The Breville Oracle Touch combines everything great about the art of expresso making with the convenience of automation allowing me to make excellent expresso and go.
Breville was extremely prompt in delivery of my Breville Oracle Touch. It is an excellent machine that produces the best coffee. Beats Starbucks and Peets hands down. Their technical support team help me with the technical side of this high end espresso machine and believe me there is a lot to it. Hats off to Breville for an excellent design and precision manufactured product.
