[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] loved my classic ii so much, decided to add a joe jr since i found a great deal on one. can hang with the bigger options, but works out to save time and fuel when cooking a small meal. don’t be fooled by the size, it’s a great grill
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first time I lade my eyes on the 18-inch Kamado Joe Classic I knew I had to have it. How could I miss it with its shinny vibrant red and thick ceramic walls. As a senior citizen, I have been grilling for most of my adult life on typical kettles, gas grills, and other outdoor ranges. The Kamado Joe would give me the opportunity to step up my game especially when it comes to slow cooking and smoking.
Although the Kamado Joe comes with a heavy duty steel cart, I keep it stationary under the roof of my veranda which allows me to cook under any weather conditions.
Even though the top dome is heavy I can open it with just my pinky finger thanks to the well balanced Air Lift hinge.
The three tier Divide and Conquer Cooking System is amazing! The versatile half-moon deflector plates make indirect cooking a breeze.
The two top and bottom adjustable vents along with the thick ceramic walls help in maintaining the desired target temperature. I have slow smoked brisket for twelve hours at 225º F without opening the dome. And I would still have coal left over that I can add to for another cook! That’s how efficient the Kamado Joe is.
I’m not a fan of charcoal, such as Kingsford due to the chemical process to make them, which can add an unwanted flavor to your food. Instead I use hardwood lump charcoal. Depending on what I cooking, I may throw in a chunk of apple wood or hickory. I have other hardwood chunks on hand such as peach, pecan and wild cherry. If I’m doing a quick grill such as burgers I may throw wood shavings of hickory in the drawer of the bottom vent. The burning embers fall into the tray and cause the shavings to smoke.
YouTube has several channels devoted to Kamado Joe which is a great source for tips, recipes and techniques.
The Kamado Joe has made me a star among my friends and neighbors!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this grill for Father's day in 2016 and it has been the bast purchase ever. It will not only increasing what you can cook, it will up your level of grilling. Everything coming off Big Joe is phenomenal. Be careful though, you will soon become your neighbor hood's best friend.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This grill was one of the best purchases i ever made , works so well , always cooks even and perfectly
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned my Classic Joe for 11 years now and it still cranks out the same quality of product as it did the first year I had it. If I ever have to to buy a new grill/smoker for any reason it will be a Kamado Joe. Great product with great accessories.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] cold winter, snow, rain or dark of night...this grill is impervious to all conditions all year long
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Happy I made the move to the Kamado Joe Family. Must have for those who enjoy cooking and grilling outdoors.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Able to cook for a family of 4 on this unit at home or away my only issue is the current stand but now I see a stand that costs more than the smoker is available.
