[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The build quality of this grill is amazing! I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into at first, but once I got this fired up, the learning curve wasn't nearly as bad as I initially thought it would be. Id 100% this grill. No complaints, to cracks, no rust, just great food.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Komodo Joe is easily one of the best purchases I have made for my home. Calling it a grill barely covers what it does. It is a smoker, charcoal grill, outdoor oven, pizza oven, and high-temperature searing machine all in one.
I use it for everything from burgers, brats, chicken, and vegetables to low-and-slow pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. When I want steakhouse results, I can open it up and get the charcoal ripping hot for an incredible sear. When I want pizza, the ceramic body holds and circulates heat like a brick oven, giving me a crisp crust that a regular kitchen oven cannot match. I have also used it to roast whole chickens, bake side dishes, reverse-sear thick cuts of meat, and cook complete meals using separate direct and indirect heat zones.
What really separates the Komodo Joe from an ordinary grill is the control. Once the vents are dialed in, it holds temperature remarkably well for hours. The ceramic construction retains heat, uses charcoal efficiently, and keeps food moist instead of drying it out. It gives me the flexibility to cook at 225 degrees for an all-day smoke or climb to extremely high temperatures for pizza and searing.
More importantly, it has made outdoor cooking something I genuinely look forward to. I experiment more, cook a wider variety of food, and spend more time outside making meals for family and friends. Whether I am putting together a quick weeknight dinner or spending the day building a serious barbecue meal, the Komodo Joe delivers.
It is not just the best grill I have owned. It is probably the most versatile cooking appliance I own, indoors or out.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since I was a child, I had been exposed to the art of cooking on a charcoal grill. My father always had Weber charcoal kettle grills and, by default, that was the brand of grill that I used for 20+ years. My last charcoal grill was 10+ years old and it was starting to show its age and the grates were falling apart so it was time to get a new one. I did my research and wanted to go out of my comfort zone and went with the Kamado Joe "Classic Joe." I have had this grill for about 2 months and I have used it about 10 times now and it is amazing. The precise temperature control and the ability to adjust the grate height to get the perfect cook, are game changers. I am using the Kamado Joe lump charcoal and I am amazed by how well it burns (and for how long). After 10 cycles of cooking, I haven't even gone through a 1/2 bag of coal yet.
I am glad I purchased this grill and I would recommend this to anyone who wants cooking perfection.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I cooked on a Char-grilled Akorn for the last 9 years and finally decided to try out a Big Joe 1. VERY happy with the purchase. Was able to set it up no problem with help from a friend. The red color looks fantastic. Biggest difference from the Akorn has been 1) the ability to have 2 zones with the Divide & Conquer and 2) the ability to control the temperature of the grill. If you’ve cooked on an Akorn you know how easy the temp can rise out of control and it can take forever to reign it back in. The Big Joe has been a huge upgrade so far and my I think my boys are excited about cooking on “the big red grill” as I am.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had an offset smoker for 15 years and when it rusted through the firebox, I made the move to the Big Joe. I’m amazed at the consistency of temperature due to the insulation and shape of it. So far I have cooked steaks and chicken hot over coals, reverse seared steaks and burgers using grate and cast iron griddle, double-indirect hot smoked St. Louis ribs, pork shoulder, and brisket. Everything has come out better than my offset. I’m excited to have a do-it-all grill for many years to come.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used many charcoal grills and Kamado Joe is by far the best because of the feature it has. Easy to get started and easy to clean up!
