I have 2 Joe Jr's. These are incredibly fuel efficient and easy to use grills. They're quick to get up to temp and quick to shut down. Because of this I often use the Jr along side my Classic 1 to cook a side dish while I'm using the rotisserie on the Classic. The Jr on the Kamado Joe Jr cart is also where my 11 yr old daughter learned how to grill because the overall height is perfect for her.
In my opinion there are still a few cons to the Jr. One is, this actually applies to all Kamado Joe grills, the inability to pick up/out the entire grate assembly (the rack, grates with food on them, whatever deflector setup you're using) to either add more lump charcoal or add smoking wood if needed. You basically have to perform open heart surgery with 200-500 degree objects mid-cook to adjust/fix any issues you may have. The doesn't happen all the time but it would be nice if grate assembly's already accounted for this.
Another con is when you want to travel with the Jr. I always have to completely remove all ceramic parts from each other in fear of breaking. I wish there was a slightly oversized padded object that would be placed in the dome with straps to hold the dome closed with enough pressure to keep ceramics from moving too much.
Overall, there are far more pros than there are cons with any of the Kamado Joes.

Big Difference

For three years we have been cooking on a Kamado Joe Jr. The Jr. has been a great grill and cooked about every thing we wanted. I just got tired of my wings or hot dogs rolling off it because it was too crowded. The other day we bought the Classic I. Huge difference, lots of room and now I can cook a rack of ribs. I really did not know what I was missing. No learning curve as it works basically the same as the Jr. It is really a classic and I love it.

Two Kamado Joe grills are better than one!

I purchased the original Kamado Joe Classic I in 2014. It was a game changer in outdoor cooking. I've since added another and use them both to grill out weekly. This past weekend I hosted a neighborhood mens group of 21 individuals who raved about my brisket, smoked cream cheese and sausage. I'm known in the neighborhood as the grillmaster becuase of my Kamado Joe grills and what I prepare on them!

Greatly enjoy my Kamado Joe! It does a great job and gets the job done. Lots of flexibility with the accessories. Get 1 or 2 you won’t be disappointed.

Outstanding Quality!

The Kamado Joe Classic I is more than just a grill — it’s a culinary experience. With its distinctive red ceramic shell and superior craftsmanship, this kamado-style cooker delivers exceptional performance for grilling, smoking, roasting, and baking. For anyone passionate about outdoor cooking, the Classic I is a gateway to restaurant-quality meals right in your backyard.
The build is solid, with thick ceramic walls that retain heat and moisture like a champ. The heavy-duty hardware — including the cast iron top vent and spring-loaded hinge — feels premium. The powder-coated cart and locking wheels make mobility easy without sacrificing stability. Every detail, from the felt gasket to the stainless steel cooking grates, reflects Kamado Joe’s commitment to quality.
Temperature control is where the Classic I shines. Whether you’re searing steaks at 700°F or holding a low-and-slow 225°F for a brisket, the grill maintains rock-solid temperatures for hours. The patented Kontrol Tower top vent allows for precise airflow, and the built-in thermometer is accurate and easy to read. The two-tier Divide & Conquer cooking system adds versatility, letting you cook different foods at different temperatures at the same time.
Even for kamado beginners, this grill is surprisingly intuitive. Lighting the charcoal is quick (especially with a chimney starter or electric lighter), and once it's up to temp, it holds steady with minimal babysitting. Cleanup is easy thanks to the slide-out ash drawer — a major upgrade over traditional kamado grills.
