Superior grilling machine!

I bought my Big Joe in 2014 and could not be happier with its performance. From low and slow for perfect pork shoulder, ribs and brisket to high and steady temps for fire grilled pizzas, I heave the best restaurant in town. With the rotisserie attachment my chicken and prime rib comes out perfect every time! I’ve spent the last couple of months replacing some of the guts to freshen things up, but I have been able to make this a major part of my culinary experience.

Exceeded Expectations...By far!

I am an avid backyard BBQ'er, cooking on the "grill" nearly every weekend. My go-to was a charcoal kettle and a pellet grill. I wanted a Big Joe for many years. The Big Joe S1 went on sale and I finally picked one up. Setup was easy and fast. First cook were some chickens. The results were absolutely next level. More cooks followed with the same results. Hands down just so much better off the Kamado Joe. I absolutely recommend getting a Kamado Joe.

Controlled cooking

What a beast! The control and capabilities I have are unparalled with my gas Grill or my Pellet Smoker. One thing in particular is that I have learned a reverse sear for the best steaks ever. There’s no way that my gas grill can get the high heat required for the sear. The multiple layers of cooking makes this possible—cook indirectly on low heat, ramp up the heat and sear directly over the charcoal. Wonderful. Beer can chicken is easy and awesome too.
We also have the big Joe Dojo (reminds me of the decade I spent practicing Karate). I was amazed at how evenly the Pizza was cooked and the charcoal imparts a unique and desirable flavor.
For what it is worth, I use the Kamado Joe lump charcoal exclusively. Unfortunately, I have wasted money on brands where the lumps are small, and the bag contained nails and plywood. The Kamado Joe lump charcoal has big lumps and is pure charcoal. Highly recommended.
PS: I have used Weber Kettles and a steel Kamado cooker. Neither come close to the Kamado Joe.

I always used gas for grilling and smoking because I thought that charcoal would be hard to maintain temperature. I was wrong, this thing is steady as a rock!

Best kamado

1st generation still going strong. My go-to for low and slow, and fast searing. Divide and conquer best on the market. Great smoke flavor whatever fuel I use. More setup involved than my other units. I also have a Weber kettle and a Traeger Timberline
