The Big Joe® Grill – Series I has been an outstanding cooker in my backyard. It’s easy to use, heats up predictably, and once you learn the vents it holds temperature with very little babysitting. The build quality feels top-notch—solid ceramics, sturdy hardware, and a tight seal that makes low-and-slow cooks reliable.
Where it really shines is the results: steaks come off with a great sear, ribs and pork shoulder get that clean smoke flavor, and pizzas bake with crisp crusts and a nice char. The Big Joe size is a bonus—it handles big cooks for a crowd without feeling cramped.
It’s also remarkably versatile. I can go from smoking at 225°F to grilling hot and fast, then switch to baking or roasting without changing equipment. Overall, Series I delivers fantastic food, dependable performance, and the kind of versatility that makes it the centerpiece of an outdoor setup

I purchased a Joe Junior because I live in an apartment complex. The space is extremely limited. The system is perfect for my patio & perfect for cooking dinner for two. My steaks are cooked to perfection. My first time using the Kamado style grill. The price is 100% justifiable. I use to own a smoky Joe and the switch is life changing for me.

For families with children nearby, the Joe Jr. brings a sense of peace. It sits low, stays stable, and keeps its heat tucked safely inside the thick walls. With adults tending it, it feels right at home in a place where little ones are always underfoot. It doesn’t flare up wildly or behave in a way that startles folks, which is a blessing when there’s much activity around.

Very versatile grill!

This grill is fantastic! I use it for everything from smoking eggs to grilling meat to making lasagna. It holds temp extremely well, once I get the air flow set, it'll maintain the temperature within a couple of degrees, from smoking eggs at 110 degrees to smoking pork butt at 250 degrees to searing steak at 550 degrees. Absolutely love it!

The sidekick

I bought this during a surprise sale at a solid price. We currently have a KJBJ3 and having the Jr has been great for those cooks that do not require a big fire or prep. While it’s a hefty and well-built piece of kit, it has gone with us on road trips and camp outs. Additionally, I have taught my children how to grill with it. Like our KJBJ3, we cannot imagine not having it. It’s great.
