The little thing gets HOT!!! 10 minutes or so in and it’s 600 degrees!! It’s is super awesome and convenient. I’ve cooked all kinds of things with it. Lobster tail from Chef Eric’s YouTube channel, filet mignon, beef, chicken, the works. Of you need a quick meal with awesome taste, this little engine that could definitely CAN!

This is a fantastic grill. I get the benefits of a ceramic kamado stable temps plus a quick prep-time. This grill is relatively quick to heat up and is perfect for small family dinners. I use the seat plate to cook steaks and veggies and a soap stone to cook fish. I can cook with indirect and direct heat. It doesn’t take up much room for those with small porches or balconies. I use my Joe Jr. multiple times per week - we love it.

Just got my Joe Jr in. Just purchased a Big Joe 3 and Classic 1 but needed a smaller companion and this fits the bill. Been a Weber guy for almost 30 years but I’m sold on Kamados now and the Joe Jr delivers in spades. Heats up faster than the bigger brethren but the heat deflector calms the flame and allows super grilling and smoking.

I highly recommend this grill for anyone getting started with Kamado or in need of a semi-portable grill. I bought this to replace a gas grill that was way too big for my needs. I'm not going back to gas after this.
Pros:
1. The design of the rack and included ceramic heat deflection plate are very good, allowing for at least 4 cooking configurations: Direct cooking low, direct cooking high (remove rack and place grill directly on ceramic ring), indirect cooking with included deflection plate, "double-indirect" cooking for pizza (you need to buy a pizza stone for this).
2. The included tools are very handy (the grill lifter and especially the ash removal tool).

3. It would be nice if there were some reference markings on the lower air setting, 3 or 4 etched lines would be nice, that way I can reproduce settings more easily.

4. Even though the grill is called "portable," it still weighs 77 pounds which is a 2 person lift for many people. I'd call this semi-portable as it barely fits behind the seat of my car and is a bit cumbersome to use for weekly activities.
