I've been using this Big Joe III for about three years, and it is a solid and dependable smoker/grill. I have a gas grill but since this Big Joe III is so easy to use, I tend to use it more than my gas grill. Once I figured out how to control the temperature, (which did not take long), I can easily smoke any type of meat and get excellent results. I've also grilled all kind of steaks, from fillets to tomahawk ribeye's, and the taste is fantastic. I've had other smokers in the past, but they were fine, but they did not last very long. This Big Joe III hasn't changed a bit since the day I bought it. It's stored outside 24/7 all year long in the Kansas City weather, (with the cover) and it's ready to go no matter what the weather throws at me. 100% satisfied with this purchase!

Swiss Army knife of cookers

I've now had my big joe 3 for over a year now and have done many cooks on it. I'll start by saying it isn't the best smoker or grill or griddle etc in myopinion, but it does all of that really well. Having something all in one is a great tool. I have a heavily modified off set, a 36" blackstone, a pit barrel, weber grill and other "toys". Yet I keep going to my kamado joe for my out door cooking. It's fun to use, and really easy after the learning curve. It's the only thing I use in the winter since it holds heat so well. Another "feature" I like is being able to save the unburned charcoal when shutting it down. It has tons of accessories, expensive but the choices are there. The only thing I've not done it yet, is a pizza and a rotisserie chicken. My family lives when I smoke wings in it. Me too cause after smoking to temp then I just get the fire on them and crisp them up. I could go on and on but just get yourself one and find out how great and fun this thing is.

Go Big Joe, or Go Home!

I bought my Big Joe over a year ago. This is my first Kamado. I investigated quite a bit, and chose the bright red Kamado Joe over the green thing due to the available accessories and price point. No buyers remorse here!

Getting the hang of it!

I've had the Big Joe III for two week and smoked ribs, pork shoulder and some seared steaks. Controlling the temperature is ok, but the trickiest part is estimating the amount of lump cahrcoal to use, this requires more practice, i understimated on my steaks yesterday, as cooked vegies in a cast iron dish on the side with indirect heat amd the steaks on direct- should've done both in direct heat . Great tasting food and a life experience :-)

Fantastic Temperature Control

I upgraded from a PRIMO XL to the Big Joe Series III last month and have really enjoyed the extra surface area, better freatures, and superior temperature control. I used the Big Joe multiple times a week, and it is great for cooking for my family of eight.
