Amazing Grill

I bought mine 4 months ago and use it twice a week. I wasn’t sure if I should get the Classic or Big Joe. I’m so glad I went with Big Joe. The size is perfect for a 18lb brisket and let’s you easily reverse sear 4 big steaks at once.

Good grill but I expected more for the price

I bought the grill a couple months ago and it works as expected. Temperature control is very easy and it is a jack of all trades. I expected some of the features to work better like the air hinge has needed tightening multiple times and the smoke roller is a pain to clean. That being said, I would buy the grill again.

This grill is amazing. So easy to get restaurant quality flavors right in our backyard. We have had it for about six weeks and are addicted. Everything we have made, chicken, fish, pork, cauliflower, even a whole turkey came out just amazing.

I bought this late summer last year after a TON of research and consideration. I wanted something that could smoke a brisket, do high heat burgers and steaks, and even higher heat pizzas....and something that could rotissierie as well would be even better. The Big Joe does all of this.
I wanted something that could run low and slow by itself for hours without fussing at building and relighting, like with a snake charcoal setup. My first cook was an overnight 18 hr brisket smoke. 230 before going to sleep, 231 next morning, no waking up, etc.
Truly a great product. The biggest challenge in my mind is saving up the cash, but thankfully, you get what you pay for.

worth the upgrade

I am new to kamado style grilling and it is awesome! I've been a charcoal griller for a long time and so the learning curve was not as steep as I thought it would be. Controlling the temp is easy, the food is wonderful and the features that persuaded me to buy the Joe instead of the egg have proved to be worth it. Spending 2K on a grill is steep for me and about four times more than I've spent before so I was hesitant to upgrade to the Big Joe III but I am so glad I did. The Big Joe allows me to cook multiple things at once and the upgraded features are well worth it. The sloroller is easy and does a great job at smoking. I love my Big Joe III and wouldn't trade it!

It’s HUGE, and heavy! Extremely well built, and utilizes very good materials.
Ensure you have another person with you if you plan on utilizing the stand. It’s awkward, and like I said, heavy. You may even do well to have a third person on, “Stand by” just incase you need yet another pair of hands to assist.
Finally, the directions on the proper way to place the inserts is less than stellar. I can’t tell you how long I attempted to install the inserts until I figured out to utilize the metal ring. The ring not only kept everything in place, but also closed any gaps I was originally running into.

After many underwhelming cooks, I finally decided to ditch my mid-range pellet grill and step up to a Kamado-style cooker. Doing even a basic amount of research makes the Kamado Joe a no-brainer when compared to other brands in this style. The features, the construction, and quite honestly, the value, make this a great choice. I will say there is a learning curve to using this style of cooker, but once you figure it out, they are very easy to master. The results are considerably better than what you get on a pellet grill, and the versatility of being able to go from low & slow to fast & hot with the same cooker cannot be overstated. My ONLY disappointment is the size...the classic is just a bit small for my family. It can hold about two slabs of spare ribs, and maybe a brisket flat only (a full packer would be hard). I you have the means, definitely step up to the Big Joe, but either way, you won't be sorry about buying one of these great cookers.
