Can’t even cook pancakes

Purchased this recently with high hopes. The griddle takes 20+ minutes to get hot enough to cook pancakes, and then immediately cools down when batter is put on, eventually shutting off. A very poor purchase

We cook pancakes weekly at the office on our E-series. It sounds like there may be something wrong with yours. Please call us to work through it! Thanks! We also own and use them in our homes as well. I have never experienced what you are describing. We even sear steaks. Let us help.

The temp of the grill doesnt get high .enough nor stay hot enough to sear your items being cooked, Nothing like the outside gas grill. I do not recommend.

We are sorry to hear this! If you can reach out to us with some information about what you have tried and what temperatures you have been able to hit, we can help you better. support@blackstoneproducts.com.

It should get up to heat within about 10 minutes or so and should be able to sear. If there is a lot of cold or frozen food added at the same time, it can zap the heat like any frying pan, but should recover and continue cooking within 5-10 minutes.

Electric not worth it…

My grown children bought this (22” Electric Griddle with table stand) for my husband and I as an Anniversary gift. I have been wanting one for the longest time but was looking at the gas propane 36” one. Was so excited to receive this electric Blackstone as a gift thinking it was going to work just as good as the propane ones but quickly was disappointed after first use. The temperature took almost 15 mins to heat up to 400 degrees. Once it was fully heated, I dropped down the breakfast food I was making, and immediately the temperature dropped down almost 100 degrees. I understand the temp dropping some but that is a huge drop in temperature! Not only that…it took almost another 10-15 minutes to get back up to 400 degree temperature. What should have taken only 20-30 minutes to cook from start to finish, actually took almost an hour. One other issue is that along the outer side edges of the griddle, it does not heat up so don’t put your food close to the outside edges or your food won’t cook. Frustrating.
So I thought I’d give it another chance and used it again later the same day…same results. Bummer! Any time you lift the glass lid, the temp immediately drops. It’s so hard to gage the the time it takes to cook your food and temperature your food is actually cooking at. Not worth the time and frustration.
Overall, the aesthetics of the griddle is built well and sturdy. The stand is okay too. I like that the stand has a place to wrap the cord up. Only giving two stars due to the most important reason, not being consistent in heat temperature.

Thank you for taking the time to review your griddle! I am really sorry to hear that the temperature dropped and that it took so long to recover. It definitely shouldn't be doing that. I do know that if you put too much food on at a time, it can zap the heat. It will also drop if you are putting frozen foods on. This is the absolute worst appliance ever bought, It will not maintain heat and took forever just to cook an egg and then the planned dippy egg became scrambled because it took so long. company will not refund. so lesson learned don't buy direct.

I bought this unit on black Friday and have used it twice. Temp needs preheated to 450 degrees just to cook pancakes not to mention how poorly it cooks meat

Once food gets on the grill the temp drops and won’t come back up. The surface is low in quality and scratches very easily. Would not recommend this unit.

We recommend that you don't use any metal utensils on the griddle top. That will keep it from scratching. As for the temperature dropping, that sounds like something we might be able to troubleshoot. One thing to keep in mind, the bars will always drop when you put food on it. The recovery time of the bars may be different than what the actual temperature is of the plate. If your food it not cooking, then please contact us and we can help you further. support@blackstoneproducts.com.

Definitely not worth the price, it's a big thing skillet which is only good for easy things, forget smash burgers or anything close to that. Great for making breakfast and that's about it. Way too thin and doesn't hold the heat at all
