does not hold the heating temperature

I bought this a month ago and have used it quite a bit but am disappointed! Does not hold the temp when cooking. Takes a long time to get to set temp but as soon as you put food on it the temp drops and never gets back to set temp. So disappointed!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We appreciate your feedback, and we apologize for the disappointment you are feeling. If your food is cooking in normal timeframes, we wouldn't recommend worrying too much about the temperature output screen. Most cooking units like skillets and airfryers with digital settings won't show the temperature dropping once it hits temp and you add the food. Like ovens and airfryers and even our propane griddles, once you open your lid or add food, the temperature gets zapped a little bit because it goes to the food. Your temperature may never come back up to the number you set it to, but your food should be cooking normally. Ours drops rather than staying at the set temperature because it pulls live feedback through the whole cook.

Low power

I've had this about a year. It works fine for breakfast and stir fry but it lacks the power for items like smash burgers or searing steaks. I have not been able to get it up to 500 degrees despite 30 minutes of preheat. At 450 the temperature will immediately drop out of range when a burger is put on. It is not able to regain temperature as long as the meat is left on. I have been disappointed with the performance

We are sorry to hear that! It is normal for the number to drop when you add food to the griddle plate, and it is also normal for it to stay lower for a while, but it should still be cooking your food in normal timeframes. Most appliances have the reading stay at the set temperature once it hits it originally. Ours pulls live feedback through the whole cook. Anytime you add food to an oven,airfryer, or pan, the temperature drops and needs time to recover because any heat being produced is going straight into the food.

This grill is based on the flat grill we use in restaurants yet and it falls short the grill came with a flaw, it has a bulge in the center that when you put a liquid like pancake batter or eggs for omelets it runs to all sides. It's great for solid foods but that's about it.
