Favorite smartwatch option

After lots of research comparing different brands, models, and features, I settled on this as my new smartwatch. I made a jump from the Samsung Gear S2 watch to this mostly due to the battery life (since I was averaging 8-10 hours of battery life on the S2), and I've been very impressed to get an average of 2-3 weeks between charges now with the Tactix 7 (obviously this can fluctuate based on usage, watch face, and settings). My personal setup is one of the native watch faces (which tend to do better battery-wise versus custom made ones I've found), most of the standard battery and connectivity settings, and then enabling the sleep/power-saving mode while sleeping. That jumped my battery life average from 7-10 days up to an average of three weeks easily. This includes tracking workouts in the gym like a lifting session for an hour twice a week, an occasional run or hike outside a few times a month, and utilizing the smartwatch notifications from my phone.
Quick disclaimer, I have not noticed a tangible improvement in the battery life through solar charging. While I don't regret getting this option, it won't be as noticeable as compared to the Instinct Solar for solar charging. If this is a dealbreaker for you, or you prefer a different glass, I would choose one of those options. For me and my uses I am outdoors enough that I think the solar charging slows the drain on the battery, which works. But I have yet to see it add any battery life after a day in the sun or setting the watch in the sunshine on a bright summer day. That being said, I have yet to be outdoors enough consistently/uninterrupted (such as hiking or camping) to give any real feedback in this area. I have gone on a few hikes for a few hours here and there, or been outside walking. In each of these activities though, I have been tracking the event which is using GPS and other sensors which drain the battery. I suspect though that the solar charging does help to slow the drain on the battery versus if you were doing the same activities indoors or in an area with poor sunlight and tracking your activity.
I also did not think I would honestly use the built-in flashlight feature as much as I was expecting, or was reading others were using it in their reviews - I was wrong. Quite a neat feature having the option to quickly have a light available - the option to select between white and green LEDs as well as five brightness modes is a plus as well.
I have no complaints about the watch, although I would appreciate a little bump in the solar charging performance. But even then it is far from a dealbreaker for me. I have also been pleasantly surprised by the lightweight titanium in this watch. Compared to a friend's fenix 6 watch, the weight is noticeably lighter with the titanium from the Tactix 7.
I hope this information helps whoever else is on the fence with this piece. Obviously it comes with a hefty price tag, but I have not regretted picking this up. One thing I would recommend to those of you who may be new to the Garmin products (smart watches or fitness trackers in general), read through some of the Reddit information available that people have posted. That has been nothing short of gold to me learning how to get acquainted with all of the features not only of this watch but also the fitness side of things. Obviously YouTube and the Garmin resources are great, but I have found several little nuggets through Reddit that were very helpful.
Cheers!

Great Outdoorsman Watch

The watch is of VERY good quality, and is excellent for the outdoorsman and survival/tactical enthusiast. The only thing that I would knock it on is the lack of everyday functionality for work and just going about your average day, mind you this watch isn't advertised in this manner so I wouldn't hold it against it, just something that I wish it did better at. Overall if you're looking for a top of the line smartwatch you help you in the elements, this is it.

Excellent watch with great features. I would love to see expanded training programs for running as well as triathlons. GPS connectivity is spotty in the cockpit but works great when outside.

My go-to smartwatch

Went through the Apple options (3 versions) and then came across this beauty. I love the night vision mode, it's durable, and most of all lasts 13 days on one charge. The UI obviously isn't as beautiful as Apple, but it's functional and durable. A keeper for sure.

A massive improvement from my Fenix 5. Screen is huge which makes looking at data easier while on the move during exercise. Solar option is such a cool feature to have. The accuracy improves on all features was amazing to see. Connects perfectly with my Garmin HR chest strap. Also has downloaded music through Spotify and connects to my AirPods.
