It’s okay

Tons of great new features. However still experiencing a few issues with the built in heart rate sensor. Goes in and out which becomes annoying during training runs that require me to stay within specific zones. Also, the sleep monitoring for recovery doesn’t track my sleep every night. I’ll wake up certain morning to no data for sleep.

The 955 has much faster GPS acquisition time and moves through screens noticeably quicker. I love the upgrade.

I Love this watch!

Replaced a Fenix 7 with this watch. It’s better in the fact that it’s a little more low profile and not so huge on my wrist. My Fenix 7 was brand new. It started to malfunction giving me incorrect GPS data. Good on Garmin for sending me a brand new watch but I had to but bought this 955 to use in the meantime and I actually like it better than the Fenix!

I had a Garmin Forerunner 645 for years and just moved on to the 955 solar. The features are excellent, the internal heart rate monitor is improved, and the watch itself feels very sturdy and well-built.

Battery is amazing!

I bought this as I feel this is my unicorn watch. I needed something with a better battery but I don't need triathlon features (although I have those options). It has gone weird twice since I've had it (been about 3 weeks). When I was doing the breathing exercise my watch restarted. I have a different face feature and one day one of the features was weird, but I just pushed the back button and it went back to normal.
I do find the strap a bit finicky for my wrist. I am a female and have average size wrist. The band seems to be to tight or to loose. I can't find a happy spot. I was worried the face might be too big for me as there was only one size option but it is fine and not much bigger than the Forerunner 245music.
Overall I have enjoyed it and would recommend this watch.

Great HW unpolished SW

I have been using a fenix 5 for 5 years and yesterday I bought a drand new Forerunner 955 Solar. I'm not going to write about the HW, it's great, you can read about it everywhere. But what is not mentioned anywhere are the small SW imperfections, which drives me crazy. For example why Garmin dont let users to decided how to map shortcuts? I bought an expensive watch for sports, I don't intend to use music, and yet I have a shortcut to music fixed on the bottom left buton. I don't see why I can't change the default button mapping. Another thing, is it so hard to make a shortcut that a longer hold brings you to the home screen? My old fenix 5 can do that. I thought the user experience was supposed to get better, not worse. Come on, Garmin, you can do better.

First time Garmin watch owner!

Just got the Forerunner 955 solar and HRM pro to help with my training for a couple of ultra’s next year. Firstly I have to say having come from a Iwatch 7 I was a little concerned I would hate the screen. I shouldn’t have worried the screen is actually really clear even with backlight at 20% and still perfectly usable without while out running. Battery life again having come from the Iwatch has blown my mind. Build quality is every bit what you would expect from a Garmin product that is to say excellent!
I’m still learning the system so can’t go into the data fields but again it does way more than I need.

Overall I can’t recommend this watch enough. Only criticism from me is the strap. I swapped it out for a few third party quick change straps like found on the Fenix range. But this is a very minor criticism and most people would be very happy with the quality standard strap.
