Best option for the 3rd Gen

Works as advertised. Adds security without a lot of bulk. Disagree with the other reviewers on the flap closing too tight. All you have to do is slide the case front to one side and down and the flap is easy to flip open with one hand. The pen holder is elegant, easily slides open and the pen can be removed with one hand. The material seems to resist fingerprints pretty well, and I like the clear back. It would be cool if they could work the pen holder into the hinge. And would suggest a rear-of-front groove to nest the folded segment when it's used as a landscape stand.

Flimsy Design

I received this case barely a week ago and the pencil holder snapped off when I was reattaching my pencil to charge. I’ve tried to reattach it but it won’t so now it’s useless. The screen cover also lays flat against the screen making it VERY difficult to lift it. The material feels like cheap, thin plastic which is so disappointing since the case is so expensive. I have an otter box for my phone which I love but if you’re looking for an iPad Pro case don’t bother with this one.

Nice product but I like the earlier model better

I bought this as a replacement for my previous symmetry cover. The old one had a fold over flap to close the case. This new case uses the same materials and is similar (very good) quality, but it is much more difficult to get the pencil from the holder-slot and I have to use a fingernail to lift the flap open. All in all, I wish I had the old model. I don’t know if there were better options since I really wanted the otter box brand, but I really don’t like having to use my fingernails as a tool to open the case.

Flimsy pen holder, and hard to open

The pen holder is horrible design - it popped off and now it's useless. It's also super difficult to open up the case since it lies so flat. Disappointed that I bought this.

Clean, effective design

I’m not sure where the criticism of this product is coming from. It’s a sturdy case, the magnet closure is tight but easy to open, the pen enclosure is much better than the flap from the last version, and the buttons and hole for the power cord work great.
The only decision I was struggling with was whether to get a case/keyboard combo. I’m glad I went with this. If I need a keyboard I’ll buy a portable one. This is perfect for sitting in a chair and doing the mundane stuff we all do at home.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Buyer Beware - Poor Design - Magnets Too Weak

I bought four of these and all four of them have the same issue. The magnets in the cover are too weak, and it constantly collapses in the upright position. I tried this with each of the four cases, and all of them collapsed in the same way. Additionally, it was impossible to hold with the cover folded up, as it would collapse in my hands as well.
Unfortunately will need to return these and purchase another brand.

Shopping for something else now

The materials used in the case seem fine, and I really liked the covers over the power and volume buttons. The big problem is the design for the pencil cover. Mine pulled off by simply sliding the iPad into a messenger bag after teaching class. I agree with other reviewers that the front cover is awkward to open and access to the pencil was finicky. I guess I just didn't expect that I would need to purchase a second sleeve to protect the Otter product.

magnets do not work. PERIOD.

As the title states , the magnets on this case are by far the weakest ive seen. They cannot support the ipad to be held up. if you plan on wanting a a case that can support the phone standing up in landscape , this case can not do that.
