Great for iPad, Terrible for Pencil

I loved the Symmetry case for my 4th Gen iPad Pro 12.9. The leather flap kept my pencil secure and the case saved me from several potential tragedies. Unfortunately, the new “sleek” sliding pencil holder isn’t sturdy enough to do the job. I’ve lost no fewer than 3 pencils when the clip caught on something and popped off. If you can’t fix this design, you should really just glue the tray closed. At least then people would know this case can’t protect pencils. I still trust OtterBox to protect my best, but this was a big disappointment.

Great Case, Horrible Pencil Storage

I really want to love this case! The case itself is great but the piece that holds the Apple pencil is very unreliable! I use my Apple Pencil often, but I quickly learned that if I stored my pencil with the case, I would lose it because that component always falls! In fact, the piece fell off completely and I didn't realize it, so that piece is lost. Thank goodness I didn't have my pencil attached because I would've lost that too! The case itself is sturdy, but that component needs to be fixed.

The new design with the sliding pencil holder broke the third day of use. Bring back the previous design for the pencil w/the flap.

Extremely disappointed with new version

I hastily ordered 2 of these when purchasing new iPads, thinking it was the same case as I had on my iPad Air. Unfortunately the changes on this "Elite" version are horrible, bordering on unusable. The pencil holder is annoying and only inhibits access to the pencil when it's being stored on the side. The closure flap that was taken away is desperately needed to keep the cover in place when folded back - without it, if you pick up the iPad the cover just dangles loosely behind and causes issues. This cover also seems a lot less sturdy than the other one and frequently falls backwards when propped up at the higher angle.
I haven't had a problem with the pencil holder falling off yet like some other reviewers did, but I doubt I'll be using the case long enough to find out how sturdy it is.
As a med students with no money to begin with I am very picky about what I spend money on, but I liked the 4th gen. version so much that I was willing to fork over the cash and even convinced by boyfriend to get one as well. This case was definitely a huge waste of money.

Removable Piece Does Not Re-attach Properly

The removable piece to allow charging the Apple Pencil does not reattach. It is held in place by magnets and clips that are supposed to snap into slots in the back of the case. But they don't snap into place and as a result the piece falls off easily since it is held in place only by the magnets and does not sit flush with the back of the case as it is supposed to. Not a deal breaker for the case but annoying.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I wish it was like the old symmetry

The pencil holder snaps off regularly, even just from tipping over while propped up. It WILL tip over when propped up because too wide but very physically thin cover does not have the structure or the magnet to hold it. The flap partially useful as a cover (despite being super thin compared to the previous model) but since it’s so thin it doesn’t stay in place and the iPad screen will turn on while it’s in the tablet sleeve of my backpack. This thing is just rubbish, but it costs a premium. I used to work for OtterBox and I bought into their own hype about how good their products are. I don’t even want to have it replaced when it breaks, I just want to finally end my perception that OtterBox makes the better products.

Horrible case

I bought this product a while ago and it has just continually been an issue. I came here and it looks like everyone has the same consensus in the reviews. The case arrives with no protective film on the plastic so it is scratched. The pencil holder seemed like it was going to be great but it is the most frustrating thing ever. It pops off so so easily and is virtually impossible to get back on. Multiple times I have sat for hours, killing the life out of my thumbs just to try to pop it back on. A couple uses later and it has popped off again. The overall quality of the case does not fit with the otter box brand. Very disappointed and will not be purchasing again considering the price-quality ratio.
