Good but not flawless

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a replacement for a 48’ kitchen aid fridge I loved and had for over 20 years. Love the grey interior and the new lighting. Fridge part and shelf configuration is definitely an improvement but freezer side seems smaller although I do like freezer drawers. You definitely hear when the ice making is on. Freezer also seems to have condensation issue that comes and goes. Overall it’s OK but for this price it should be flawless

Light issue

This fridge has consistent problems with the lights going out one by one in the fridge and the freezer. Kitchenaid knows this is an issue but doesn’t seem to fix core problem. Once warranty is up your on your own
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

DOES NOT FREEZE

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Kitchenaid side by side, 48 ch, has been good in keeping frig cold, BUT it DOES NOT freeze ice cream . It does freeze meats, makes ice, But disappointed it does NOT freeze any ice cream products.

The Best

We had to replace our old Kitchenaid and decided to replace it for a 48" Built in Side by Side panel ready. We purchased it directly on the website. We are enjoying it so much. We preferred it over the Sub Zero because it opens and closes easier and is better priced. Once the wooden panels and hardware were installed, it looked so elegant. In choosing the hardware for it, I chose 18" cast iron to match the cast iron knobs I had. The install of this unit can be challenging depending on your steps and entry area, but still very much worth it.

Replacement fridge

Our previous fridge, same model as this except two years older, had some issues with the freezer and fridge LED lights. All the freezer lights died as did one of the fridge lights. Since it wasn’t quite two years old yet, it was still under warranty. The service tech came out to fix the lights but, about 3 weeks later, all the freezer lights died again. Another visit from the service tech resulted in all the lights except for one of the freezer lights working (replacing the light units). Considering the expense of the fridge and not all the lights working the tech was going to see internally what else might be the problem. Soon after I got a notification from Whirlpool that we were approved for a new replacement fridge. They took away the old unit and delivered the new unit and did a great job considering this is ~600lb item!

Freezer Develops Frost

Brand new and the freezer develops frost quite often on the shelves and panels. Technician said this is a known problem with this model. Great. The door seals as far as I can tell. But often there is frost inside. Not a good sign for the future......
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
