Not much better than 530..830..1030 ..

I bought this 2months ago and its already playing up ..just like all the other models you have to keep resending them back as they always develop a fault.. As for the relaibility factor the price should be less than a tenth of what you pay.. The support is terrible they just want you to disappear..Going to try other brands..they just cannot be this unreliable..The old style bike comuter is hard to go past..they always work...

Great device

Best Garmin to date. Upgraded from a 530. I wasn't sure what to expect from the touch screen. I'm happy that it remained responsive despite sweat. Screen doesn't jump around. The screen is very clear and responsive. The use interface is intuitive and easy. Mapping And Insights are excellent. I love the interactive features on several of the data screens. I certainly want to see more.

LOVE That The Metrics Now All Sync Up!

So glad I upgraded my Edge 820 to the 1040. One of my gripes about the 820 is that in order to get all of the stats that my 945/955 watch has, I had to run both devices to get say the Exercise Load. The 1040 now does this and no more two devices for a ride! I love the large screen and how much faster it processes touching the screen! Definitely recommend. I didn't get the solar version because in the Northeast, the sun isn't always shining and the extra 10 hours of battery life didn't seem to be worth the extra $150.

I bought 1040 3 days ago and I can't be more happier. the screen is amazing and I can see all fields perfectly. Battery lasts way longer than other versions e.g.: I did a 3:30 hrs ride with all my gadgets synced like power meter, heart rate band, varia radar rear light and it only spent 12% battery. The training area maybe is not so friendly or intuitive as I thought but maybe I have to study it more how to use it.

Big upgrade from a Edge 520

I have an Edge 520, Edge 830, and now the Edge 1040. The upgrade from the Edge 520 to either the 830 or 1040 was huge! I do like the display on the 1040 for the additional screen real estate. More data at a quick glance.
