Excellent Battery Life and More

The first thing I noticed is the incredible battery life compared to my Garmin 1000. After 330 miles I still have 35% battery life. I have the non-solar version. Given my daily riding paying another $150 for solar charging and 64GB of memory is overkill. I am using the standard GPS satellite setting. Navigation works well and customizing screens are a breeze. I really like the re-routing capability compared to my 1000. So far, no glitches where the Garmin turns off during a ride. Lots of metrics are available if that is your thing. Overall, I am very happy with the 1040.

I have the GARMIN 530 Edge and wanted to upgrade to a bigger device and with touch screen I really love the 1040 it connects flawlessly to my devices as well as my DI2 components. Money well spent.

Love the music player!

I just purchased my Garmin 1040 a couple of weeks ago. I had a 1030 model that I also liked but when I found out about the music feature I had to upgrade I’ve been hoping Garmin would have something like this for some time now. It is so much easier to change volume or go to another song than using my Apple watch.

I've used my knew Edge 1040 for a couple of months. The first time I was on a local trail it startled me with an alert of an up coming "Sharp Bend". Since I knew the trail I was not using the map function at that time. I switched to the map and was pleasantly surprised it knew every turn coming up and continued to alert me of the ones it considered sharp. The only issue I have had is with responding to text messages. It is not consistent in when it will allow me to respond (or I'm not understanding how to use the function). It should be a "no brainer", maybe I'm over thinking it. The other issue i have is with the response messages available. They are VERY limited. My Vivo SQ has an option via the phone app that allows me to add messages that are more customized to my needs and remove ones I'll not use very often. It would be nice to see this on the Edge.

I like all the features, but sometimes mid-ride the screen seems to take on amindof it’s own…..it changes without any input from me?
