Good device .. apple health integration is awful

Device is fine. New ui is good. Apple health integration is a complete train wreck. Doesnt properly update hr, bike events, or workouts. Makes a complete mess of your Apple Health data. Garmin shouldnt be able to advertise Apple Health support while this mess is still in place. This is all a result of Garmin’s focus on releasing lots of poorly thought out and executed features instead of a few excellent features that work well! Look out Garmin .. your software and ui/ux failures will be your undoing.

Open Apple Health App>Sharing>Apps>Select Connect>Turn off All options except 'Workouts'

Great computer with all the features you could need (if you don't need the solar power!).
A little overwhelming at first, but only takes a few minutes to figure out how to adjust the layout to your liking/needs.
Love the ability to connect a wide range of accessories to the computer (cadence, HR, power, etc).

It's pretty near perfect

I purchased following a trial of the Karoo 2. I was not in love with the Karoo 2.
I immediately fell in love with the 1040. I have a garmin watch so it fits perfectly into my riding and other exercise. I love the training and fitness tracking. I love the guidance. I love the other garmin addons that work with it.
The radar and head light are awesome. I ride a lot at night. It's awesome.

I got my new Giant Defy last week. Also the 1040 with the rear light radar device.
Love info at my finger tips.

Garmin Edge 1040 Review

I recently purchase the Garmin Edge 1040 and have used the device for >12 activities. The simplicity to setup and link to another app is incredibly easy with the included instruction. What I love the BEST is the detailed information, color screen and sleek profile. The mount is included and very solid with no concerns of the Edge 1040 falling. I would absolutely recommend this Edge 1040 it truly amazing.

Another great Garmin!

Very happy with this Garmin. I was debating this one over the solar flavor as I don't expect to out use the 35 hours versus the 45 hours with the solar charging. I can skip a few days of charging with the Non-Solar due to my cycling schedule. I upgraded from the Edge 820 so I really like the screen size and audio directions. I still have not maximized all the features but having fun with the ones I have accessed so far.
