I wasn’t too sure about this tool, in particular because I already have a Fenix watch, but it brings some more Intel, and is so easy to use, not to mention so convenient, I would not imaging riding with that it anymore!

I love the real time data

I purchased the 1040 edge, I enjoy having the real time data available while cycling. Easy to manage, swipe to various screens. Still learning to fully use. However, unfortunately, the computer doesn’t capture my distance (working on getting this resolved)

Way too much crap, masking the good stuff

Geez, while I am a fam boi of Garmin I must say they are trying WAAAAY too hard to put everything in their units. At this point it fails at doing what it should do best -- be a GPS for bike trails. Overall unhappy with the purchase.

Moved from an 830 to 1040. Don't bother with the solar model regular has great battery life

Fantastic! What an incredible unit. If you train with power and HR you will like all the additional functions over older Garmin generations even the 830. Battery is good enough to charge it once every few weeks with regular use. Map screen is as good as it gets. Easy to use and see

Big improvement

Coming from Edge 1030 plus and also compared it side by side with the Hammerhead Karoo 2. I returned the Karoo 2 and keeping the 1040. Faster boot time than the 1030, screen/font combination makes the screen readability much better. Now you can use the Garmin Connect app on your phone to set up the 1040. Improvements about workouts and metrics. Overall very happy. Only issue I have found out so far is the recording of testing heart rate. I use the Garmin HRM strap but I take it off the moment I finish my ride and Garmin records my resting heart rate at an elevated level which creates an issue with the health metrics.
