Love the improvements!

This is a big step up from the 1030 version. The new OS interface is super slick, and the faster processor and more memory make this blazing fast at start-up; no more waiting around for satellites! I use this paired with multiple bikes and Ant+ sensors, power, lights, HR, etc and it has no trouble with anything. I opted for the nonsolar version as I have the plug-in battery option from my 1030. Overall highly recommended!

Fabulous product! I had the Edge 1030. Very similar. Happy with this one too. The screen is big so you see well the routes. Very nice for bikepacking. Also the battery is amazing. You don't have to charge it often. And there is a mode battery economy. Perfect for everybody who want to go on adventures

Very Easy to install and to pair with pre-existing devices (radar, speedometer,...)
Provides a lot of reliable and vital information
The ability to personalize screens, even on the go, is very helpful
Very long battery. 10h easy, perhaps 12h ! And fast charge with that!
Garmin ecosystem (app, watch) integrates seamlessly and help then keep scores of performance (and push it to Strava) and even monitors your bike usage!!

All in all a great unit that I would buy again

I love the bigger screen and layout. The dashboard like front page is great with usable information at your fingertip. I rated it 9 as navigation is not working as well as I hoped for. I have had many messages with navigation error. Maybe I just need to spend more time playing around with the navigation part. All in all a great unit that I would buy again.

Moved from an 830 to 1040. Don't bother with the solar model regular has great battery life

Fantastic! What an incredible unit. If you train with power and HR you will like all the additional functions over older Garmin generations even the 830. Battery is good enough to charge it once every few weeks with regular use. Map screen is as good as it gets. Easy to use and see

Great computer with all the features you could need (if you don't need the solar power!).
A little overwhelming at first, but only takes a few minutes to figure out how to adjust the layout to your liking/needs.
Love the ability to connect a wide range of accessories to the computer (cadence, HR, power, etc).
