Crystal clear display, super fast cpu. Great features. Was a previous owner of 1030 - this is a huge upgrade and well worth the price - if you own the 1030 plus -maybe not, but for 1030 - it is well worth it.

Only so-so for MTB

Powerful machine but just sort of falls short for mountain biking for me. Screen is so muted and hard to see and following for navigation, especially in the woods when the shade dims the light. Just wanted this to be brighter … then again, I’m approaching 50 and my eyes need all the help they can get.

Love the 1040

Tired of navigation issues with Wahoo Roam, so I decided to try the Edge Explore 2. But it lacked some essential features, so I paid double to get the 1040. It was worth the extra cost. Now I can clearly read the large color screen while cycling. No more awkward buttons to press with gloves. Awesome attention to detail. Glad I made the switch.

Nice Device Still work in progress

Bought this 3 weeks ago and enjoy using it for my daily rides. I don`t use all the training offerings because I am not into the ultra-physical aspects this device is designed to do. I need it for riding in the woods where maps are kind of nice and to know where you are on the side of a mountain. Easy to trust 95% of the time. Only issue I have is that this units does not shutdown smoothly every time. It does like to hang with the power display showing. Garmin says this was fixed with last and latest firmware, but nope, it's not. Still, I would not hesitate to purchase because all of the good functions out way this annoying firmware bug.

Very good product, I have used and still use Edge 1000, Edge 800, Vivoactive HR, 3 and 4. The 1040 has a great battery life, I connect power meters, Di2, heart rate chest strap, radar, head light as well as remote and after a long ride there is still enough battery for another long ride.

I have had 4 prior Garmin Edges, this by far is the quickest, best connecting Edge I have had so far no dropouts with the all of the accessories, Boots up quickly
