This is my 3rd Garmin bike computer and is working great. It has all the familiar features from my 820 and many more (perhaps overkill for a beginner, great for long term). The battery life is drastically improved on this computer. No problems with water/sweat on the screen making unexpected selections. Would definitely buy Garmin again.

Awesome bike computer

The display of the Edge 1040 is great, it's good to see in the sun, nice colors. The menu is easy to learn and navigate. Connecting sensors as well as 3rd party apps like Strava is very easy. So far I am very happy with the device.

I bought to replace a buggy computer from another brand and couldn’t be happier with the stability, easy of use, mount bar, UX, music control, and the fundamentals that’s reasonably accurate and this helpful. I do recommend it !!

Fist i bought edge 840, I found out that 1040 is colored and touch screen, so I upgrade it, and I’m glad.

Some good features

I've had 1040 for two weeks, I really like many of the features. Especially, the battery life and how quickly it boots up. On the other, the display is extremely difficult to read with sunglasses on, and the navigation really lags to catch up with off-route changes. My other bike computer is far superior in these two categories. Not sure if I'm going to return the 1040 or keep it, I have another 10 days to decide.

Lots of improvements over my 830!

The 1040 has a learning curve of which this ol' 77 yr old is still navigating. I ride a 3-wheel recumbent which extends the distance from my eyes. This computer has been easier to see and seems to be faster at computing the various metrics. I am glad to have upgraded to the 1040 and look forward to discovering its capabilities!
