My computer recognizes the Garmin 1040, not G exp

I was able to get the 1040 setup through my phone but Garmin Express on my computer does not see it. I can see the Garmin 1040 and browse the files though.

Works great but needs set up refinement

Bought several weeks ago. Transitioned from an older 810 Edge, and this is so much more powerful. One of the major drawbacks of having a new device like this with all the "bells and whistles" is the amount of set up time. There were a number of default settings that I wanted to change / disable, but found it difficult to find / edit them. One particularly troublesome feature appeared to the the automatic "crash" notifications - Perhaps a bit greater detail on explaingin how these notifications actually work, would prevent false alarms - I accidently dropped the device while it was on and immediately got phone calls from my emergency contacts. SInce I do ride long rando's and other tours, I really appreciate the longer battery life without an external device.

Edge 1040 does it all

I used to use a 520 for races and an explore for navigation and battery life. I am so glad I switched to one unit that does it all! The battery life is amazing, the speed of gps acquisition and the speed of the processor is also amazing. I couldn’t recommend it more.

The Garmin 1040 is Amazing

I bought the Garmin 1040 two months ago and love it. I upgraded from the Garmin 830 which I was very happy with it as well. The navigation is spot on domestically and in Europe. The larger screen allows for all my riding data to be in one screen. The larger screen also is very easy to read. I highly recommend the Garmin 840! It’s worth every penny.

I love the device; can't connect it to Garmin Exp

I have had a ticket open for a while with Garmin. I cannot connect to Garmin express so that I can update the maps.

A giant leap from conventional computers. My cycling is improving as a result and I feel as though every ride has "meaning." I feel closer to my bike and my fitness. This was well worth the expense.

I bought one month ago and used on 5 rides so far. Great screen and easy to customize the screen formats with data you want. Easy to manipulate the screen with gloves on!
