Best Cycle Computer I've Ever Used!

Thread title says it all, and I've previously used the Edge 530, Wahoo Roam and Bolt, and a couple others. The 1040 has it all: amazing battery life, large and readable screen, tons of configuration options and data metrics, precise routing, etc. It powers up quickly and finds my wireless accessories immediately, locks on to satellites almost instantly, uploads rides quickly, etc. I've had it only a couple weeks, but it's pretty much perfect.
'Course, it's 50% more money than the next-highest priced bike computer on the market, so it should be awesome. And it IS awesome. If you want the best, then bite the bullet, pay the price, and you'll not regret it.

Ive used the Edge 530 for over a year and found a good deal on the Edge 1040. The new GUI is good and much more helpful than what's on the 530. The touchscreen works great for me even with gloves on. Everything I had put in on the 530 was easily transferred onto the 1040 with no issues at all. All my sensors, settings and data were there! That was a huge help. Ive gone on a few rides already and the battery life is good with screen display on the the whole time. Ive ridden with it with rain beginning to drop towards the end of my ride and no issues. All my mounts still work and the alum mount seems more solid than the 530 plastic mount. Im looking forward to riding with the 1040 this season. I went with the NON SOLAR version as I feel I dont ride in the saddle long enough to take advantage of that feature and saveing a couple $$$ was what made my decision. Im using a Fenix 7 solar and felt i didnt need to go solar on the Edge 1040 and it was good to save some $$$.

I use this exclusively for cycling. Upgraded from an Edge 510 I had for a long time that finally wore out. More real estate for additional fields vs my 510. Pretty cool that you can download developer displays. A few disappointments. It calculates my fitness age based on a resting heart rate that is just wrong. My resting heat rate is 50 and this thing says it is 121. Hence my fitness age is ridiculously high. This is apparently an issue raised with Garmin over 6 months ago and not fixed?!? Also most of the performance features require a power meter…….so if you don’t have one then half of the fitness features are useless. Also, the tether doesn’t fit well with the Garmin silicone case. So not using it.

Incredible

I’ve had this for a few weeks and I’m pretty smitten. The battery life has been incredible. I was a little concerned about the touch screen interface and some of the conditions I ride in. Could be so much more

Device works great and deserves 5 stars but it falls short. Can’t use Wi-Fi to download a map and can’t just link your Apple Watch as a heart rate monitor. Too expensive to not do the things a much cheaper unit can do
