So far the Edge 1040 has met or exceeded my expectations and l've really enjoyed using it. It's winter here and l've only used it to control my smart trainer but am anxious to use it outdoors when the snow melts.

Easy to use

Bought it a few weeks ago and have used it every ride since then. Easy to use, great display and the heart rate monitor/cadence sensor/speed sensor are super easy to connect. Love it for sure. Would buy it again for sure.

Worth it for fast route calculation & map redraw

Everything is an improvement, lots of catch up for what Wahoo has always had, especially lightning fast route calculation and no more slowing WAY down for it to show you your next turn while it redraws the map. Same for panning and zooming.
Just frustrating that after several remove/adds, it doesn't properly control my Garmin urban headlamp nor my rear radar camera.

User friendly, enhanced legible screen.

Before purchasing the Edge 1040 I was afforded the opportunity of trying out a friends Edge 1030. First ride I noticed how much easier it was to navigate with the 1030. After doing some additional research I made the decision to purchase the Edge 1040. I've been using the 1040 for about a month for indoor roller rides, outdoor road rides and gravel. The user interface provides for a more intuitive customization process. Connecting to your phone and your sensors and Garmin express seemed much earlier.
I have owned the Edge 530 and 830, and while the units were good for monitoring and recording ride specific details, the Edge 1040 clearly offers a significant number of improvements, enhancements. Setting up activity profiles is a snap. The larger touch sensitive screen enables me to set up Data Screens that are specific to the kind of ride I'm doing, more data with improved legibility. Customization is a very simple process. Navigation, mapping, turn by turn directions capabilities, makes this unit a must for the avid cyclist looking for larger more legible directions.
The Edge 1040 is so feature rich, that I doubt I will utilize all the features. As an example, training, and biometrics capabilities. Nice to know that the Edge 1040 has these capabilities and that if the need to monitor arises, I have the ability to use them.
Bottom line, well worth the investment.

Edge 1040 for the Win!

I’ve owned both Wahoo and Garmin products now. Previously the Edge 530 and now the 1040. Garmin’s user interface is by far the best in the industry! The features, screen size, resolution, touch screen response are all top notch! I would highly recommend the 1040 to anyone looking for a new bike computer!!
