Stylish and Modern

The cafe is stylish and attractive with its' backlit interior. The one drawback is the shelving on the left. The shelves are too small and the top one is much too high to put anything in without hitting the top when closing the door, so basically, it's useless. The icemaker is a bit slow but it works. The freezer has an ample amount of space to store frozen items.

Expensive failure

We love the refrigerator itself, but.... The freezer didn't seem to seal properly as there has been lots of frost build up on one side of the freezer drawer. That would seem to indicate an air leak somewhere although door seals seem seated properly. Not a crisis, as it didn't seem to affect anything.
The ice dispenser frequently leaks very cold air, indicating an intermittent malfunctioning door/seal of some kind.
Today, after 6 months or so of service, this morning we noticed water started dribbling down the ice/water dispenser lever and through the door itself.
That was an annoying and concerning problem, but now, late in the day we discovered the likely reason for the water leaking. THE ENTIRE REFRIGERATION SYSTEM IS FAILING!
The freezer, which is set at -2F is registering 32-34 degrees with my instant read thermometer (which is accurate to -50F). The refrigerator portion is set at 37F and is registering 44 degrees.
No GE service is available for two weeks… after Christmas!
Question, does having non-GE service void the Warranty?
We are buying a small freezer as backup and have a small bar fridge for a few items
I'm 82 and have used/owned many refrigerators. Going back to my days as a child, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A REFRIGERATOR FAIL IN 76 YEARS, UNTIL OWNING A CAFE.

GE cafe Refrigerator

We own an appliance repair company and know which appliances give the most problems. GE has always been a reliable product and we did not hesitate to purchase this beautiful Cafe refrigerator when parts became no longer available on our old refrigerator.

New cabinet depth refrigerator.

Love The Look

Love the look but missing a lot of features my 18 year old Maytag had. No wine storage to hold wine horizontally under a shelf. No egg container, no dividers for door bins, a shelf that you could raise up or down with a turn of a handle or tilting door bin. No humidity control on vegetable drawer. For cost of appliance it should have a second ice maker in freezer one on door is small with tiny cubes that melt fast.No light in middle multi use drawer. So far the pluses are looks on the outside love the looks on the inside with the back lighting. I hope it gives us 18 plus years of perfect service like our old Wide by Side Maytag. :)
