Powerful Trimmer...

I have had the opportunity of using this trimmer for my entire yard - almost an acre. My first impression was that it does punch some power and it is very light and balanced to carry! And it works great overall. Unfortunately the battery it comes with will not last for the full duration of the effort... I must say, the effort was considerable given I was completing the first in-depth yard trimming of the season here in PA and did require much work. I suspect I will be able to complete my regular work on one battery charge going forward... But you might want to get a spare battery to be safe!
Also, I wish the head had a guard you can adjust so that you can complete trimming faster and easier. (The guard I am referring to includes a small arm one can set for when trimming beds and does not have to hold it a specific height.)
Good tool overall. Looking forward to continue using it.

Bump feed baby!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After running a gas powered string trimmer for the past 10 yrs I made the switch over to electric and it’s perfect for around the house. The bump feed is new to me, but wow. Anytime you string runs low, pull off the trigger and it will feed back up with no issues!

The very first thing you’ll notice when unpacking the SKIL string trimmer is the quality of the design, engineering, and materials. It was very easy to assemble (i.e. ‘unfold’, then literally, took just 5 minutes to complete). I own a SKIL PWRCORE 20V Leaf Blower, and had a fully charged battery, so I inserted and took the new trimmer out for a spin, while I charged the new battery.
You’ll find two speed settings and a lock-off button – a very nice safety feature that requires you to hold along with trigger switch to start. An interesting design feature is my forearm rests comfortably on the battery insert casing behind the handle and provides leverage and balance. It’s a good length from top to bottom, and permits access safely to areas I need to trim. And trim it does! It works so much better than my old electric weed wacker.
Because I own several SKIL 20v cordless tools, it’s easy to forget one of the most significant features of this series of Skil tools…you’re not tethered to an extension cord, or refilling a gas tank, as you work!
It works incredibly well and I’ve recommended Skill 20V series to my family, neighbors and friends!

I found the new Skil 20V Cordless Hedge Trimmer superbly crafted, ,easy to use, and very comfortable in design, as far as hand positioning and control of the trimmer while in use. It offers dual safety features to eliminate accidentally engaging the cutting blades.
The 20V battery is easy to insert and remove (when not in use) and provides this Skil hedge trimmer untethered access to the tops, sides, and bottoms of every bush and area you plan to trim. This trimmer replaced my old, and broken, electric cord trimmer…and I’ll never go back to pulling, positioning, or untangling extension cords again!
The cutting power is very impressive, and the longer blade makes for more even, cleaner cuts, and that makes for quicker work trimming my hedges. It’s very easy to use.
I’m very impressed with this portable, battery powered Skil trimmer and have recommended to family and friends.

2 set speed switch and easy wind head

I have rewound more cutting heads than I care to over the years. I like using string trimmers as edgers but am always breaking the line on the concrete because get to close. However with this easy replacement line cutting head i feel free to break away because it is so easy to replace and the 2 speed switch is a first for me. Sure they are all variable speed with trigger control but the 2 set speed switch allows me to edge so much better.

Long blade with plenty of power and run time

I decided I needed the entire family of tools and why not since I have been using Skil tools all my life. This Hedge Trimmer is plenty long enough with terrific power and amazing run time. I have over 20 feet of hedges around the house. Because it is 2.5Ah the unit is lighter and easy to use. It's best feature is the dual action blades - cuts so clean.

Been quite leary about any lawn tool battery powered after much researh I decided on the SKIL 40volt hedge trimmer. After the first use my fears were vanished. Better than any electric trimmer or gas powered trimmer Ive used in the past. The battery life is INSANE. Buy it!!!!
