Just like all of the Wyze products I own, this Thermostat was incredibly easy to install, and works like a charm. The interface on my phone is simple and welcoming, and I was able to put everything together in about 15 minutes. Wonderful. And so much cheaper than a Nest Thermostat or other equivalent!
Overall the t'stat is made fine, works fine and is easy to operate. However, for use in our elder mothers home, the firmware just isn't satisfactory. The temperature is allowed to swing too wide for her. She would prefer the temperature hold as close as possible to setpoint. The only way to do this is to leave the t'stat in permanent hold, without a schedule. So, for us, we cannot rate it any higher.
Simple set up and WIFI connection simple....wish there was a way to see history and temperature charting better....but overall it does exactly as advertised and CHEAPER then all competition, simple connection and well thought out directions (I had to rewire my furnace motor following the WYZE directions were SUPER EASY TO FOLLOW).
no good for heat pumps. was using emerg/aux heat as primary which is very expensive. says 'heating to in x minutes' and not running the fan. either it means it is heating and will satisfy to temp in x minutes or it will begin heating in x minutes. who knows but if the heat strips or gas backup are running and the fan isn't you may have a safety issue.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I ordered a second thermostat. A power outage seemed to fry the first one. My only complaint is the customer support process. Going through the app I ended up running in circles and never got anywhere. Finally I just ordered a replacement.
